We are grateful to be sharing the results from our latest planting site. This 16 hectares site is part of 250 hectares of deforested and degraded land by the extensive use of livestock. This site has the function of disseminating knowledge about recovering native vegetation in the Amazon with different methods and purposes, promoting the sustainable development of the Amazon. Here are some of the impacts of our work:
30,000 trees planted, contributing to the conservation of the region's watershed. It will serve as shelter and ecological corridors for fauna and flora as well, contributing to the conservation of Amazonian biodiversity and as an important carbon storage in plant biomass.
Species threatened with extinction are being produced and planted, such as Bertholletia excelsa and Swietenia macrophylla, categorized as vulnerable on IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, since these species' population has declined more than 50%.
20 residents of the nearby community were employed, as part of the integration and raising awareness of the local community, through training and hiring of surrounding residents (farmers) to carry out the planting actions. In addition to contributing to the increase in the income of those involved, it served as a way to raise awareness among the residents of the region who will consequently ensure the preservation of the planted area.
