Daintree Life Revegetation

Daintree Life Revegetation, Australien

Our project restores key areas like old service roads and weedy reserves to increase habitat for wildlife such as Southern Cassowaries and Bennetts Tree-kangaroos. We select sites based on access, community input, and their potential for creating wildlife corridors. Our goal is to plant 500,000 indigenous trees by 2030, with nearly 20,000 already planted since 2018 to help regenerate the Daintree Rainforest.

Here is a drone shot above stage 1 of our Bells Road, Newell rainforest project in Far North Queensland, Australia. If you look closely, you can just make out 20 school students we hosted this morning planting another 150 trees. They are just right of centre in this shot.

The first tree on the Bells Road, Newell project to reach higher than me - planted knee-high 9 months ago. This is a Weeping paperbark (Melaleuca leucandendra).

Five years ago, 20 trees were planted in Cow Bay, Daintree, for the birth of Arlo. Last week, he and his parents visited 'Arlo's trees' and he was very excited. Although only five years old, Arlo said he is very happy that his trees will help feed and create habitat for wildlife.

Photographed hiding in the trees of one of our planting areas - an adult Southern Cassowary. The trees were planted five years ago and this one has been observed eating native fruits from two species in that area.

Spent a few hours yesterday with these guys - a Canadian-based film crew from AFT. They have been tasked with producing a mini-series for Tourism Australia, looking at the top tourist locations in Australia - of which the Daintree was right up there. The series will air on Canadian

We photographed this beautiful Southern Cassowary feeding on fruits of Red-leaf fig and Powderpuff lilly pilly. What made this so special is that we planted both trees about four years ago.

While brush-cutting weeds amongst planted trees at our Newell site, I missed damaging this nest of eggs by sheer luck. I would not normally photograph eggs, but was standing above them with a noisy brush-cutter and had my phone in my pocket. Once I had moved on, I heard someone 'telling
