Rafaeles Eden, Honduras

In Colon, Honduras, the Hernandez family manages 564.79 hectares of land. They have successfully practice rewilding as a method of keeping 70% of the land a pristine humid tropical forest.  The focus now is to use regenerative agriculture methods: soil regeneration, permaculture and reforestation to expand the forest. We welcome help to plant 55,000 plus trees in the next few years to help to offset carbon footprint and preserve the ecosystem.

Majestic forest, generous family, ambitious project!

I travelled to Eden De Los Rafaeles as a volunteer architect to help the project assess opportunities for sustainable construction of community facilities on the land. I found a compelling story of a family that has understood the value of the pristine forest for generations and actively resisted the unfortunate and unrelenting trend of destroying the virgin forest to clear land for cattle ranching. Nearly all the land surrounding Eden De Los Rafaeles has been clear cut for cattle. The family has an inspirational vision of restoring forest to the portion of their property that has been cleared and showing neighbors how the forest can provide them a thriving livelihood as an alternative to the bleak cattle economy--restoring this valuable natural resource, fresh water supplies and biodiversity while demonstrating how people can live in harmony with the forest in all ways.
The land itself is magnificent--hundreds of acres of original forest still exist there with majestic trees disappearing into the sky and with roots the size of people, fresh water streams, and diverse fauna. The family is as generous as they are dedicated to their work to protect the forest and help their neighbors to understand and benefit from its abundance, with the goal of spreading forest restoration far beyond the bounds of their property.
While staying at Rafaeles we were nourished by the rich bounty of the land, enjoying coconut, bananas, plantains, papaya, bitter orange, and many other fruits and vegetables from the land. The family's knowledge of the plants growing on the land is impressive and includes many that have therapeutic and medicinal effects. This is a valuable resource for for the entire world and a worthy project to support!

An environmental cause that is worth supporting!

I have been traveling to Rafaeles Eden for the last two years as a volunteer photographer/videographer. I wanted to photographed the reforestation project they are doing and learn about the forest they have been managing. It is impressive how one family has been taking care of hundreds of hectares of forest land. The knowledge, the dedication and the love for the land that the people here have is captivating, beautiful and so deep. They are focus and truly care about protecting the forest, about reforesting the land that has been damaged and about caring for the permaculture project they are doing. I am now working on a documentary short film about this place that just came out on its own from my visits there. I have seen first hand the work that they are accomplishing and can only say that these family of forest guardians is a worthy and noble cause to support. Personally, it has been an amazing project to follow and to be involved in. I have been inspired to help them anyway I can whether is helping them write about their project or putting video content together, or helping them with their site. This family's dedication is contagious. For them the goal is to expand the forest so that the many plants and animals that live there have a home. And, they are successfully achieving this.

A Beautiful Connection with Nature and Spirit

This place will immerse you in the beauty and spirit of the jungle. Moses and his brother know so much about the plants there, so you can learn a lot and develop your connection deeper with nature. They are beautiful and kind souls with a passion for helping others and healing the planet. I really do recommend that you come stay here and/or help as you can, as they are building something really beautiful and transformational!

Camino Verde

Entering into Amazon primary rainforest is an experience like no other! To breathe with the lungs of our Earth! On that first boat ride Jan 2019, I’d never felt so happy to be alive! What a great privilege to see the reforestation efforts and tree nursery of Camino Verde at Baltimori on the Tambopata River of Peru! What an honor to experience a team who is working to preserve the ~30% of the remaining primary rainforest and priceless biodiversity it contains. I loved most of all to hear the symphonies of bird songs, especially at dawn! Also, the experience of rainforest fruits with powerful flavors that were completely new to me, such as Guayo Blanco! Many people talk about wanting to help save the planet, and Camino Verde is actually doing the work!
In gratitude,

If you love Earth , love Rafaeleseden

As a personal and now a close friend of the Hernandez-Lopez family, I have seen their passion to reforest and restore the land they grew up on flourish in Honduras ?? over the past year and a half . They genuinely care about the environment and habitats fir both the people and animals residing in the area.
I have donated money during the course of their endeavors without hesitation . In return I have seen pictures, videos and even spoken to some of the members directly involved. Seeing the fruits of their labor and their success has filled me with an immense sense of satisfaction !
The work is not easy as they have encountered many obstacles including fires that were aimed at destroying some of the surrounding land .
Take a look at the website: rafaeleseden..com and come to your own conclusion . In my opinion they are making a difference in the world in an attempt to restore the balance that used to exist in the past between nature and humans .
If I am able perhaps I will join the next team that travels to plant seeds and sapling . After all forests and plants are medicine for the body and soul. This reforestation project is a marvelous way for us to help the crisis the Earth is facing now and to help future generations.
❤️?❤️?❤️?❤️?
