Save the Aberdare Forest, Kenia

Our project aims to restore the degraded Aberdare Forest by addressing the impacts of illegal logging, charcoal burning, and encroachment. To reverse this damage, we are planting indigenous tree species and supporting local communities with improved cookstoves and biogas units. These efforts not only restore the ecosystem but also enhance community resilience to climate change.

Kiangure Springs has since June been involved in installing institutional energy saving stoves aimed at reducing wood fuel consumption in local school.The local stove saves up to to 60% fuel thus reducing pressure on local forests given that over 96% of the institutions in the Aberdare

Our team is currently preparing our tree nurseries in readiness for the March/April season.The seeds have been planted in the polythene bags and will start germinating soon.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS
The Farming community is greatly benefitting financially from the tree planting project in the area for supplying the seedlings . Funds have been used to improve their livelihoods hence reducing poverty. They have also gained from training of community members
