With a dark color, ranging from purple to black, the rounded fruit is born in bunches. In the North region of Brazil, E. precatoria has several uses. The current economic potential of these species is focused on the exploitation of the fruits in the market of fresh, frozen pulp, in addition to products derived from the pulp. Its fruits are oleaginous and are also used to supply the growing oil market of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
Species particularities
Euterpe precatoria is a single-stemmed palm, with an elongated stipe, without thorns. It reaches an average of 20 meters, and the trunk is 10 to 15 cm in diameter. Known as Açaí-do-Amazonas, is found in the upper Amazon, Mato Grosso, Bolivia, Peru, southern Colombia, and Venezuela. It is a species that inhabits regions with a rainy tropical climate, at altitudes below 2500m.
