SueM

I still miss Sue terribly, there is a huge hole in this group and I can sense that her other friends feel it too.

I just wanted to start a topic page that we can all add our feelings to.

I'm also waiting for TN to add something in honour of her memory considering the vast amount that Sue donated to them in sponsoring trees, gifting trees, zero net sponsoring etc.....

Great idea with the udianas <3 . Is anyone still in touch with Joana? Also : TN planted 500 trees for Sue back in May (on Sue's page). It's so lovely but also heartbreakingly sad to see her paintings and lovely comments. Thinking of Joana and you all, her friends <3 xxx

Linda, so lovely to see your trees in Sue's udiana, and the loveliest of words too.
It's becoming a little forest now 🌳🌳🌳🌳😍

Thank you Kerry for starting this page and thanks to you and Petra for starting the Udiana forest for her.
Your and Linda's tributes were so moving. She really was an amazing person. Intelligent, artistic and compassionate to the core. She taught English all over the world before retiring to her adopted homeland of Portugal. She was so appalled at what the UK was turning (had turned) into. I'm so sorry that she didn't live long enough to see the latest election results. It would have buoyed her soul.
I'm not too sure when I first encountered Sue. We were both on Kiva together along with a German woman named Ramona. I'm sure those of you who were friends with Sue on Facebook will know Ramona, and she may have been on T-N at some point along with so many of Sue's friends. I know Sue was disappointed when so many of her friends slipped away from the site. We were also all on Watsi.org together funding health care for people around the world with no insurance. While I was still on Facebook Ramona sent me an invitation to friend her and three or so other Kiva members that she recommended as friends. Sue and I became good facebook friends and we sent more long winded private messages on Messenger. Even though we never met I honestly felt as if I had known her forever.
I think that Ramona introduced me to the Greater Good clicking game that we all participated in, and Sue introduced me to Tree Nation as well as other tree planting sites. She started with her own tree and had numerous friends both planting trees and putting drops on them. I just put drops on her and her friends' seeds for a long time until I understood the site and started to plant my own seeds.
Over a year ago someone hacked my facebook site and must have posted something so egregious that I was banned for life. This was so ridiculous as Facebook themselves told me that my site had been accessed by someone far away and asked me if I was the person who had opened the site from this other town. I said no, it wasn't me, complained, sent ID to prove who I was, and yet the next message from them said I was permanently banned and there was no way to challenge their decision.
So Sue and I started to email each other like long lost friends. I missed seeing her posts on Facebook but still saw her wonderful paintings and short messages on Tree Nation. (and longer messages on the Forum giving a piece of her mind to admin haha!) Sadly we both got a bit lazy about sending the emails but I felt as if I still had contact with her here on T-N. Of course I now greatly regret that I didn't email her more often.
I know that she caught Covid very late in the Pandemic even though she was extremely cautious, and it did continue to give her problems long after she was "cured".
I don't know how many of you saw the post that she made here on the forum but she had a very nasty fall in her apartment and was in the hospital with a badly bruised face. I believe she said that her daughter Joanne went to stay with her while she recovered. So I did wonder if that fall contributed to her passing.
Whatever the cause it is a terrible loss for us all, but more so for her daughter and grandchildren.
There will certainly be a huge hole in their lives as well as in our lives at T-N.
Without Sue here and all the problems with trying to water the seeds I haven't been visiting much. I haven't planted a seed for a long time and occasionally come to water the seeds of others.
I hope the connection with all the people who loved Sue will keep me coming back.
I had always hoped that we might meet if she ever came to visit her daughter in Canada again. But alas, that will never be.

Dear Carolyn 🤗 . You’re so right with everything you’ve said on the udiana tree you planted for Sue… it’s so beautiful indeed to see Sue’s forest grow with your and lovely Joanna’s trees added, too.
I also regret not having stayed in touch with Sue more often. Ramona’s still on here, too, although not interacting, I suppose. She’s planted around 465 trees on here in Sue’s honour.
How I’d wished to meet you all in real through Sue as well. Maybe we will one day in her honour.

Carolyn, such beautiful words on your Udiana, it's turning into quite a little forest 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳💚
Also the comment on here is perfect.

I know exactly what you mean when you say you wish you'd messaged more, that happened to me too. Sue and I would send messages on Facebook Messenger but as my own life took a turn for the worst and my husband was diagnosed that his cancer had returned with only months left, in fact he lasted 5 weeks, my life changed again 💔
Sue and Vic had also never met but as they both shared the same terrible condition of COPD they had an affinity and Vic always knew when I was talking to Sue about it and would wish her well.
It's funny, like you say, that someone can have such a huge impact on your life and you've never even met them....what a gift that is to have.....
I've had a couple of lovely Messenger messages from Joana, and I hope she realises that we have all taken on the roll of 'stepmum' to her, she is our living link to Sue and I'm so grateful that Sue's TN forest page is still active, I often visit and just look at the beautiful artwork.
When I first joined this group at her invitation I too just went around merrily watering, not a clue how to plant a seed, so much so that I had to ask Sue how to do it...doh....she never lost patience but I suppose that was the teacher in her.
The loss of Sue has really hit hard and I think of her every single day when I water and if I notice 2 active seeds from one planter.....well, we all knew what was coming then lol
There are so many more of our TN friends acting as sponsors and I like to think that's in honour of Sue. With all the difficulty watering we are losing friends left, right and centre, but I will continue to water, to let you know when a new Udiana is planted and to share my thoughts here.
Take care all of you xxx

Linda, did you know any of the EEK's that met up? I'm trying to remember their names but my memory is awful these days sadly.
Yes wouldn't it of been fun to have all turned up at Sue's flat....we could have given her a bag of sprouts! 😉🤣😂🤣😂 Do you remember how angry she got when she couldn't get hold of any....that's what I mean when I say she was hilarious and didn't know it. Who gets angry over Brussel Sprouts I almost shipped some out to her 😆

Hi 🤗 . Unfortunately I might’ve missed the Brussels sprouts episodes. Sounds like she really liked them 🤩 . There’s a page of EEKs called Friends of the Enchanted Forest, with Turkish Engin, Finnish Pär and his wife Marie-Louise, Australian Susie aka Queen Quakka, English Karin in Brussels, English Carol in Spain, Finnish Mia and many others. If you can’t access the page, let me know and I’ll send you an invite 🤗
