Restoring Biodiversity Highways

Restoring Biodiversity Highways

CL Chili

Afforestation and reforestation project focusing on two ecosystems: the dry Mediterranean zone and the rainy temperate zone. This project is designed as the starting point for larger-scale restoration, aiming to create resilient ecosystems that restore environmental services and improve biodiversity connectivity over time. A carefully selected mix of native and exotic species is planted to ensure ecological balance and long-term success.

Description du projet

Our afforestation and reforestation projects in Chile span two contrasting ecosystems: the dry Mediterranean zone and the rainy temperate zone. By planting a carefully selected mix of native and exotic species, with native species comprising over 80% of the composition, we ensure ecological coherence and a much higher probability of long-term success. While our initial scale is focused, these initiatives are designed as starting points for progressive restoration. They have the potential for landscape-level expansion through a hybrid system that combines windbreaks and forest areas. The ultimate goal is to transition from isolated interventions to functional, resilient ecosystems capable of sustaining environmental services and connecting wildlife through biodiversity highways over time.
