Let me introduce you to... the new Replant feature!

Dear Tree-Nation Community,

We're very excited to share with you a new feature called "the Replant".

The replant is the fastest way to plant trees and enables all users to plant a similar tree to one that already exists in one clic, encouraging the support of planting habits that feel the most inspiring.

It's a way of sharing a tree by planting another one (similar to the famous “Retweet” or “Repost“).

With the Replant, the Tree-Nation community takes all its meaning: together we share motivations to plant trees and we can count how many trees are successfully planted by each motivation. It enables the community to support the most appealing posts by contributing to it with more trees!

We encourage you to play a role as an influencer: by just planting one tree you may inspire thousands to plant more trees for the same motivation. Your impact can be very powerful with just a few words.

We can't wait to hear your feedback!

I'm shocked. This is not a "replant" feature. This is a "steal this image and text" feature.

When clicking on this button, TN automatically copy text and image, and select some random specie.
If you want to personalize the selection, you find the same old uncomplete tree selection module.

Besides, the word "image" could not be found in your privacy policy !
We never agreed the use of our pictures or texts outside of our own publications.

Hi Guilhem!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — I understand your concerns, and I’d like to clarify the intention behind the Replant feature.

The idea is not to “steal” content, but rather to allow someone to express support for another planter’s message and initiative by adding trees to it. The original post remains entirely intact, with the original planter’s name clearly visible. It’s more like saying, “I love what you wrote and want to amplify it by planting more trees in your spirit.”

That said, we’re always open to improving how the feature works and how it’s perceived. If anything feels unclear or misused, we’re happy to review it together.

Regarding the privacy policy — I’ve flagged your point internally so the legal team can double-check and clarify any ambiguities.

Thanks again for highlighting this, and for helping us make the platform better.

Best regards,

Renzo from TN!

I don't see the point of this feature. It just complicates everything.
What you should do is change and improve the filters to find tree species by price, life expectancy, type, etc., without having to go to the specific plantation. With the current system, I waste a lot of time searching for the right tree, and planting is no longer enjoyable.

@Guilhem. @brida

Hi Brida, Guillem, we do not replicate the content, we allow a user to support your own planting and add a tree. If someone replants your tree, it means you have inspired one person to plant a new tree. It means without you this tree would not have been planted. We will complement this by adding an "Influencer" counter. So you may plant 300 trees on your own, but thanks to your influenced you may inspire another 3000 trees being planted.

It also means that when you see a great tree planted by someone else, you can support them by a like, a comment but now also by planting with them.

In a way this is a way to plant together as a community.

It also allows to plant a tree in 2 clicks. We are testing this internally and we have never planted so many trees because it becomes so quick to plant.
Frankly there is more to this, as this will also enable true "planting habits". More on this soon.

But like any launch of any feature, we need a bit of time to get used to it, see how it goes, make adjustments and small improvements and get the user behavior to kick in after a period of discovery.

A question. We are thinking to add a setting so that you can refuse the Replant on all your trees. So we are interested to know if this is an option you would want to have. Would you take this setting? I look forward for your feedback, but would suggest you give it a few days to see if the features grows on you or not.

please please please make the watering of seeds work again. This is highly frustrating. Many couldn't water their friends' seeds for four days now... except for the new ones... only on the first day they became available... some people's seeds, that usually become trees within four days, are now at risk of becoming a lost seed if this isn't fixed very soon.

please check the Bugs & Suggestions Forum page... many people have got these concerns of not being able to water... we don't want more friends to intentionally quit on TN and planting and watering because it's all very inefficient at the moment. Thanks a lot in advance and have a very relaxingly great weekend

Yet, this is still not the TREE that is duplicated, but the presentation we made, including text and image we provided.
The specie is randomly selected, so there is nothing to do with the original tree.

See an exemple here :

https://tree-nation.com/fr/arbres/7327093/voir

In the tree info tab, two different species. Click on it, another bug, they lead to the same description card.

So, i see your point, the "influencer move", but this appellation is misleading.

Each time, you're asking for time AFTER you implemented changes, but testing environments are made for this purpose.

Remember last summer ? We experienced a hudge unusability of the entire site, took hours trying to figure out, support team "didnt understand why" and few weeks later, you finally tell status has change, that "private entrepreneurship will save the world", and never admitted you did change the server-side organisation !
How do you think it felt ? How many long time users have gone because of those repetitive "communication issues" (to stay polite) ?

We have a HUDGE bug on the seeds game for many days, do i have to describe it all again here ? Or will you search the forum to find out and fix it before seeds expire ?

All the features we asked for, where are they archived ? Where is the search tool in the forum ? When will we able to select a specie without focusing on a specific project ? Where is the notification with a sign like @toto ? At what point is the paiement with the tn-account for sponsoring seeds ? Where are the moderation options, when you've been insulted, had to complain by mail, and then, be insulted again by the team ? And the insults are still published ...
You wanna make social, all right. The first thing you have to do when organising an even is to set the proper fire exits ...

So, it's nice to hear that you have projects, but ... FIX BUGS FIRST !

Besides, number of trees is a thing, but only the quality of plantation could have a positive impact on the long term.
If you put baby plants on a clear cut, they have a very low chance of success. So you can plant again, and again ... and never have a forest. Just a rent on selling seeds.
This is NOT the way i want things done.
So i tryied to select projects and trees with this goal of conservation.
If someone ""replant" this tree, and pick a cheap "clear cut engine", this is a treason of the meaning of the first tree.

Hi Linda
thanks for reporting it. We are working on fixing this issue. In the meantime, we'll make sure to provide enough water drops to not lose any seed: tomorrow a rainy storm arrives to the seedgame!

"In the tree info tab, two different species. Click on it, another bug, they lead to the same description card."
-> great feedback. Noted, we'll fix it.

"never admitted you did change the server-side organisation !"
-> What you are referring to? When we transitioned from company to NGO, there was not one person that changed in the team. The NGO was hiring the service of the company to handle the website. However, the improvement on our tech team happen and are gradual. Any issue related to the site was completely unrelated to this transition. There was no correlation here.

"We have a HUDGE bug on the seeds game for many days,"
-> fixed! we also put a stormy weather for tomorrow in the seed game.

"when you've been insulted, had to complain by mail, and then, be insulted again by the team ?"
-> We've reviewed your case already and found no breach of our policy. Every community has its choice of policies. In ours we don't want to play the police + judge role unless there is a serious abuse. Our objective is our tree planting mission and focusing on moderation would deviate our scarce resources from our objective. We owe to our children to focus on what is essential to them: a good future. I have personally not found any evidence of any insult from our team to you neither.

"All the features we asked for, where are they archived ?"
-> We are launching features at a highest speed than ever. The choice of those features is not focused on pleasing our users but making sure we reach our mission. We believe our users care more that we achieve our mission than if they meet a bug here and there. Obviously, over time, we want the best user experience. But our focus is not to go slow to avoid making any wave. It is to release as fast as possible in order to build the platform that can achieve the mission. For example the Replant module is already planting more trees per day than the Seed game! And yet barely no user know how to use it yet.
I know this may be counter intuitive but we don't see our users as clients: we see them as sponsors, partners who side with us to achieve the mission. We believe our users care more about the planet than their comfort on a website. Am I wrong?

For info, we will also make a massive improvement to the Seed game in less than 3 months. With the aim to plant 100,000 trees per year with it, instead of 10,000 today.

"The replant" feature, reminds me the old system of forests, when every member could create many forests and everybody could plant trees in them. I still missed this system and I think it was a more stimulating way to plant. How can resist to plant in a Forest of Magic, per example?
Well, I prefer to plant trees to last, not to cut down in a few years. I think that this should be the objective of TN too: trees to last. This is something that should be clear when we choose a tree. Pay to protect and preserve.
And this change could also be made: instead of using drops to help the seed grow into a tree, drops to keep the tree alive. Both systems can coexist. Of course, we need more drops available.

Hi Brida

you're bringing back some good memories :)
This concept of forest exist in a different way: with the hashtag, that we call Planting habit. It gather all the trees and count them, very much the same way our old "forest" did.

the Replant module for now offer a fixed list of species at the same price of 0.50 €. The idea is to plant quickly without a price surprise. However, there is a toggle to select a different species, adding a few clicks.

In a future version, we'll allow each person to configure a pre-defined species list, so you will have this pre-defined list by default. For example you could select: I only want to plant in Kenya. And then the default choice for your trees will be Kenya.

We don't offer to "pay to protect and preserve" simply because the preservation of the trees is already embedded into the tree price. However, regarding the very long term, there is more we can do and indeed have a solution for this too. It is in our roadmap for 2026.

A note: The price of a tree has nothing to do with whether it will last or be cut. While a few trees are indeed destined to be cut, they remain a minority.

Interestingly, in a well-managed forest, cutting a tree can actually be one of the fastest ways to enable additional CO₂ capture. Not all cutting methods qualify—clear-cutting, for example, is highly damaging. But when done responsibly, selective harvesting plays an important role.

Trees capture the most CO₂ during their first 20 to 30 years of rapid growth. After that, their absorption rate slows. If an older tree is harvested and replaced by a younger one, and if the wood from the cut tree is used in long-lived products like construction material (thus preserving the stored carbon), this allows for a new cycle of carbon capture—on top of the carbon that’s already been stored.

I think we have an article on this topic and if not that would be an interesting one to release. Cutting trees have a bad publicity for obvious reasons but when done well in managed forests, it is an interesting solution to accelerate the carbon cycle.

I'm in two minds about this... I think it could be a great way to share ideas and planting habits, but most of my seeds are my own photos. I'm not sure how I'd feel if people replanted them. But if it shows the original planter/creator, maybe it would be okay. I will have a better look at some replanted trees. Maybe there could be an option with every seed/tree planted where you can disable the replant option?

Yes it shows you as the original creator. And it will reward you also within your influencer counter:
you will have the tree counter of the trees you plant, and the tree counter of the trees planted thanks to your inspiration.

We will probably add a setting to block Replants for users who don't want it. Probably only at user level, not a choice at every single tree, because, at tree level we will introduce the Private trees.

So we are interested in your feedback if you would indeed want to lock some trees, all trees.

But think about it this way: your own photos or creations could lead to plant many more trees! Now a good content can convert into unlimited trees. Ideas can plant trees!
It may change how we plant indeed, and our content, because our impact could be much bigger.

It can have great applications like birthdays, where many friends can join to celebrate by adding a tree. We are still discovering the concept :)

Update 202050407_1130
@maxime Again, you missed the point. The whole project is great, great job along the years, as long as it doesn't support clear cut's rent and plastic release in natural spaces. But here is not the point.

Do you really think I gave all this UX advice for my own pleasure? It's so contemptuous and condescending, but it explains why so many of my messages remain demonstratively unanswered.

No correlation, pure chance, of course, if you say so... in the meantime, the site was unusable for several months, with typical issue of server downsize.

My interest is focused on trees, choosing species, exploring their characteristics, learning more about their planting and growth conditions, their products, etc., and I think that's what brings us together here.
All this information has disappeared from the tree files, only a truncated extract remains in the certificates.
Today the only way to access those informations (which could be developed) is a 7 steps operation ! Go on treeinfo tab, click on the specie, scroll all down, open the certificate, then click on the specie, find it in the list of project's species, click on it to finally open the pop-up ! 🧐 Do you find this intuitive ? I don't ...

When I asked to be able to choose trees based on the criteria already included in the databases (by specie, usage family, etc), it was to make the system more interesting to use. Excuse me for sharing my technical knowledge without the Grand Master's permission, and for making ready-to-use suggestions.
So once again, when I tell you that you're mixing everything up, it's not to contradict your authority, but to make you realize that you're making, in my opinion, an error of judgment, even a strategic one, by ignoring user returns, by making the "trees" page a duplicate of the "forests" page, instead of making it a center for disseminating knowledge, in connection with the projects. You're free to not give a damn, indeed. But don't be surprised by the consequences. If I haven't spent anything for a year, it's no coincidence.

hello, I generally agree with what Guilhem says, there have been problems on the site for months, every week something different, if you make reports the answers are slow, I think it is better to focus on solving the problems rather than inventing other questionable functions, I do not see any use regarding the Replant function, if you want to sensitize users to plant on a topic the Hashtag is already useful, as already said last year when we lost friends in exchange for followers... I do not intend to be an influencer or have followers, I do not care, furthermore I personally do not like my photos to be used and published by others, I signed up to plant trees and I found a nice community with which I like to exchange ideas and emotions, but I am very angry about all these hitches, I am still waiting to be able to plant seeds using the credits that I could have on the site.
