The Simarrú or Simarouba amara or is a fast growing tree of the Orinoco River basin. Its wood is termite resistant, hence the Latin "amara" in the scientific name. The Sacred Seeds Botanical Garden is planting Simarrú trees as living fences, which not only helps to provide farm borders

High up in the rain forest canopy the grapefruit-sized fruits of the Pendare or Salivón tree (Parahancornia oblonga) are starting to ripen. The fruits are edibles and the seeds mature in April. The tree prefers wet soils and the shade of other trees. It does not grow in open settings.

Our team is currently preparing our tree nurseries in readiness for the March/April season.The seeds have been planted in the polythene bags and will start germinating soon.
We have planted over 10,000 seeds and looking foward

COMMUNITY BENEFITS
The Farming community is greatly benefitting financially from the tree planting project in the area for supplying the seedlings . Funds have been used to improve their livelihoods hence reducing poverty. They have also gained from training of community members
