# The Tree-Nation Family Grows: Welcoming Bosques de Agua Project in Argentina.

Affiliated with Tree-Nation in June 2023, the project has already commenced its initial planting phase.Over the past 300 years, native highland forests have suffered devastating losses due to intensive livestock farming, indiscriminate logging, and intentional fires. The Bosques de Agua project steps in with an ambitious vision to reforest the Sierra Grandes region, renowned for its high altitude, cloud-draped native forests. These landscapes serve as crucial habitats for the Tabaquillo (Polylepis Australis) trees. The project's primary objective is to restore the Pampa de Achala watershed, a biodiversity hotspot providing water to more than 70% of the province of Córdoba, by planting this specific species.Since its inception in 2013, Bosques de Agua has planted across 210 hectares of land and has recently secured an additional 140 hectares for further reforestation. This ambitious undertaking holds promise for impactful benefits, such as soil regeneration, ecosystem restoration, increased biodiversity, and mitigation of fire and drought damage.Moreover, Bosques de Agua is exploring partnerships with local livestock producers. The goal is to facilitate a transition to regenerative farming, which would benefit both the soil and pastures and open up additional land for forest restoration. Fig. 2 Tree planting activities. This approach ensures the project's social impact is as profound as its environmental one, empowering local communities to partake actively in restoring their own environment.Tree-Nation is eagerly anticipating the fruits of this collaborative endeavor. Our aim is to catalyze significant environmental progress for the Sierra Grandes mountains. We are excited about the future, standing firmly with Bosques de Agua in their pursuit to reclaim nature and safeguard the vital ecosystems of this region.
