Our sponsors at Climbing Trees have committed to planting 1 million trees with the Tree-Nation platform by 2030. Here is a bit about their story, their commitment, and their plans for the future. At Climbing Trees, they have a clear purpose: ‘’We leave things better than when we found them: our clients, our staff, society, and the environment.’’We hope you enjoy the interview we had with Alex Holliman, Managing Director at Climbing Trees. How did you learn about Tree-Nation?Via the 1% for the Planet platform. How did your interest in planting trees begin? It was an early stage in my pivot to become more purpose-driven. We needed to do much better, and sustainability was a key aspect. Additionally, I evidently have a love for trees, as the business is called Climbing Trees.Tell us about Climbing Trees. What is your mission?Primarily we are a search marketing agency. We want to make a significant impact on our client's business, and we work well with companies that want to improve the performance of their websites.Behind that, we have intentionally set out to look after our people, society, and the environment in order to show that modern businesses can be profitable while giving back. What are your expectations for the future? Do you have a planting goal?Besides planting 1 million trees, we will work to try to encourage others, our clients, and partners to join us.How would you encourage others on our mission to reforest the world? It's a learning process. To tell others that they are doing wrong is a jarring thing and one I don't feel will encourage them to change. So I think when people are ready to look into what they can do to mitigate their personal or professional impact on the environment, the core thing is making changes to their consumption habits, for example:- Switching to renewable energy.- Adapting travel habits: - Fewer flights - Switching to electric cars - Less commuting to work and client meetings- Buying second hand. When those things have been explored fully, then I think reforesting and planting trees is the way that will contribute to reducing the leftover carbon impact a business has.At Climbing Trees we have done a deep dive into everything that we need to do better, we have tried to change our business for the better, to talk about that with humility, in the hope of attracting and inspiring others to look into the work they need to do.How is our environmentally oriented business solution part of your business plan?We have taken action on a whole range of things and there are actions we are currently working on. For the things we cannot change, we emit carbon, and our action with Tree-Nation is aimed at making sure we make it right. How does our service work inside your company? What is your system for planting trees? We have committed to planting 1 million trees by 2030. So we plan to work hard, and then we will plant 100,000 trees with Tree-Nation per year via 1% for the planet. Is your company involved in other social responsibility actions or activities?Yes, we have submitted our application to become a B Corp and partnered with 1% for the planet. We also work with 8 or so charities managing their Google Ads Grants.Click here to visit the forest of Climbing Trees
