Our project aims to restore mangrove forests along rivers and coastlines, addressing the large-scale loss of these vital ecosystems. Launched in 2018, it helps local communities who depend on these forests by planting and maintaining trees while providing long-term employment opportunities. Additionally, Tree-Nation adds to all trees the same CO2 of VCS certified projects.

Monitoring a mangrove site means reading the mud as much as the trees. This stand shows seedlings at clearly different growth stages, some just past establishment, others already forming canopy, evidence of how survival and growth vary even within the same planting area.

This Avicennia marina was planted in 2022. Three years in the salt mud of Mozambique and it's already pushing past 50cm. Not bad for a species that has to survive tidal flooding, salt stress, and scorching heat. 🌱
