One Tree Matters

At our El Arish site, 8 months after planting, and a massive wet season, the birds are already moving in!

One of the native trees we plant is the Xanthostemon chrysanthus - Golden Penda.
A spectacular evergreen flowering tree, that grows 5-8M tall, is endemic to North QLD. Breathtaking bright yellow floral display in dry season, even when small. It is very attractive to birds & bees

Our amazing volunteers range in age from 76 down to 5 years. We couldn't do it without them!
In this photo they are planting at our El Arish site. The trees have had a great start to their new life with over 2.5 meters of rain falling at the site since January 1st.

Another reason we love planting trees!
We recently stumbled across an Australian Scrub Python having a sleep in one of our revegetation sites. This snake is commonly considered arboreal or tree-dwelling, making it one of the world's largest and longest arboreal species of snakes

The Endangered Spectacled Flying-Fox is one of reasons we are so dedicated to regenerating our native forests.
Spectacled Flying-foxes are forest dwellers and rainforests are their preferred habitat. They prefer to roost in the middle and upper canopy strata in the full sun. Colonies

It was February Community Revegetisation Day on Saturday and we celebrated with a Tree Nation planting event. We planted this quarter's trees and then the rain watered them all in with over 100mm.

Last Friday we held a community tree planting event for Australia Day at our El Arish site. We had 17 volunteers attend and planted over 400 trees. We are planting trees for the Spectacled Flying-fox and the Southern Cassowary, both of which are endangered species in our region.
