Hotter seasons, intensified rains, wildfires, and illegal logging have weakened forests, leading to thinning, soil erosion, and water depletion. The ejidos, as forest owners, lead tree planting and maintenance, with women often at the forefront, improving the resilience of the forests and preventing further human-caused damage.
