Our project focuses on afforestation and reforestation in the Orinoco River basin of Colombia. The goal is to create long-term economic sustainability for the nearby natural reserve, which is dedicated to conserving local flora and fauna. We achieve this by employing natural farming techniques that support both the environment and the surrounding communities.
Tree-Nation is opening projects for funding at a cautious pace to make sure each activated project will receive sufficient funding.
Over time, as our funding capacity grows, we are able to open more projects.
Nonetheless, in order to make sure we can help as many projects as possible, we also provide seasonal funding where a selected project can receive funding for a limited time.
This allows for a larger rotation of projects and broadens our reach and beneficial impact to more people worldwide.
Your voice matters. There are many great reforestation projects out there, and they need your help. We encourage you to discover more projects and participate in their selection process to activate them for funding. Here are the actions you can do:
We then take all the activity generated around a project to make our monthly selection and open new projects for funding.
The presented projects are at different stages of their application process and not all projects will succeed in becoming selected. However, as a part of our mission to reforest the world, we feel it’s important to encourage every tree planter on this planet to keep on with their important work, especially smaller projects that need special attention. Tree-Nation is also a place for them to communicate, gain new followers and exchange best practices with other planters. Tree-Nation aims at becoming the platform for all reforestation projects in the world.
I render my practical study semester at "La Pedregoza". So far I can only say that the last two months were full of new and great experience. Beside my forestry related activities in tropical plantation and primary forests there are lots of things to explore. We went canoeing in an inundated galery forest and were followed by a couple of the so-called pink dolphins or "toninas" in Spanish. I really didn't think of meeting those ones in the forest! In another Galery but not inundated forest we were confronted with a "real" caiman telling us to change direction. Quite exiting! Its an excellent place to get to see bizarr plants, impressive animals or incredibly dense forets in which one can actually see just a few meters ahead. For me as a forestry student it is a perfect mix of both learning about tropical plantation forestry and enjoying tropical nature.

I have just come from La Pedregoza plantation in Vichada, Colombia, and I can still hardly believe what they have done there. It is the closest thing to a miracle that I have ever seen. They have turned rock hard desert, devoid of any soil, into lush green forests that cool the breeze and already provide habitat for countless critters, birds, and bugs. Dexter and Kochurani have a vision so grand, most people could never even conceive of it, never mind achieve it. It takes days to appreciate the diversity of the projects underway there. It is about so much more than growing trees for investment potential. I don't think there are many people on the planet that could achieve what they have, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are one of the best examples of ecosystem based reforestation on the planet. All the members of their management team are passionate professionals who take personal interest in every tree. And what a great tour of the Natural Reserve, to learn about what the forest was and could be like again all over the Amazon and Orinoco river basins. Precious moments in unique ecosystems with great hosts and very comfortable accommodation. A trip of a life time! I can't wait to go back.
La Pedregoza is a fantastic plantation. I've been there in Jan 2011 and trees grow very well. Most importantly maybe is the full dedication of the staff and the good management by Dexter, the plantation owner. I really recommend you to visit it, if you have the chance to go to Colombia. Dexter will teach you so many things about those trees.
My great-aunt invested her life savings with these people. They promised her a great return, paying out over 4 years ago. Now all she's getting excuses, no return, not even her original investment. They've kept all her money and she's scrimping and saving for the final years of her life.
Unfortunately, she's too good-natured and too trusting to believe these people have scammed her.
THIS IS AN AMAZING & WONDERFUL PROJECT, WITH SOME VERY DEDICATED & HARD WORKING PEOPLE INVOLVED !
I LOVE READING DEXTER'S WRITINGS, ; HE EXPLAINS THINGS SOOO WELL, EVEN THIS AUSSIE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT HE'S SAYING ! <3 XXX
