Restocking

Our project focuses on afforestation and reforestation in the Orinoco River basin of Colombia. The goal is to create long-term economic sustainability for the nearby natural reserve, which is dedicated to conserving local flora and fauna. We achieve this by employing natural farming techniques that support both the environment and the surrounding communities.

Project description

This project is an afforestation and reforestation plantation aimed directly at the issue of carbon sequestration and climate change. We are located in the department of Vichada in the country of Colombia, South America.

Our program uses the power of nature to repair some of the most difficult and depleted oxisols on the planet with a blend of native and introduced species which are selected for both nitrogen fixing and carbon sequestration rates. By restoring these depleted lands with forests we are helping restore the carbon balance of our atmosphere as one part of the climate change solution.

The finca la Pedregoza was bought in 2007 but the first major scale plantings were done in 2009. In total as of November 2022, our farm has planted close to two million trees trees. We have upgraded our government certified large main nursey that can host close to 180,000 trees. We hope and expect to plant millions more over the next 10 years.
