Importancia y beneficios de las cortinas cortavientos

Las cortinas cortavientos consisten en hileras o franjas de árboles y arbustos instaladas de forma que se altere el flujo del viento, y en consecuencia el microclima, con el fin de proteger determinadas zonas de los efectos del viento. Suelen instalarse en los bordes de campos agrícolas o de pastos, mejorando la producción agrícola y ganadera, y alrededor de zonas residenciales, rurales o urbanas, beneficiando las condiciones de vida de los residentes. Así, por ejemplo, una cortina puede proteger del viento una zona agrícola y, al mismo tiempo, proporcionar hábitat para la fauna, abastecer de diversos productos, mejorar el paisaje, hasta aumentar el valor patrimonial del inmueble.

La acción del viento puede ser directa o indirecta. En el primer caso, actuando mecánicamente y alterando procesos fisiológicos; en el segundo caso, interfiriendo con el clima local y las condiciones del suelo, que a su vez interferirán con los fenómenos biológicos.

Las cortinas actúan sobre los vientos superficiales reduciendo su velocidad, protegiendo la tierra y diversas estructuras. El efecto de reducción de viento es mayor en los primeros metros y se extiende hasta cierta distancia de la cortina en función de su altura y permitiendo mayores humedades relativas del aire.

Las cortinas cortavientos pueden realizar las siguientes funciones: - mitigación del clima local; – control de la erosión eólica; – mejora de la producción agrícola y ganadera; - protección de la vida silvestre; –mejora del paisaje; – Obtención de diversos productos complementarios. En términos generales, los cambios de temperatura dependen del tipo de cortina, la ubicación, la estación y la hora del día. Con la reducción de la velocidad del viento hay menos pérdida de calor del suelo por convección y evaporación. Las cortinas permiten reducir la evaporación del agua del suelo y la transpiración de las plantas, contribuyendo así al ahorro de agua.

También protegen contra el efecto mecánico del viento, que puede afectar a diferentes zonas de cultivo agrícola, ganadería, zonas forestales, etc. Por otro lado, protegen a los animales del viento, del frío y proporcionan zonas de sombra, protegiéndolos del exceso de luz solar. Es notorio los beneficios en la producción agrícola, en la precocidad de los cultivos, en una mayor disponibilidad de forrajes y en mejores producciones animales, así como en una menor incidencia de enfermedades.

Great idea..... WOWWW

Ketrawe has made a click in our minds due to their creative proposal of the use of windbreakers within crops, although the idea is not new and it has been forgotten in time, the way they have recycled the idea by putting a lot of science into it is simply fantastic!! I encourage all forest builders in the world to replicate this idea.

Fantastic!!!

We have visited Ketrawe a few weeks ago because we were curious about this windbreaker system they propose. Long story short, they have an incredibly positive impact on agriculture, fauna, society, water cycle and the restoration of forests. It is very emotional to see wild life back again and the beauty of those trees proudly growing among crop fields. But what really got our attention is that for the first time we saw farmers eager to plant more forests. Congratulation Ketrawe and thanks for the ride.

We have visited agricultural sites in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia during the past 10 years. Plan de reforestación

Yeahhh i love trees

Finding reforestation projects in the amazon is fairly easy, they are all about recovering the forest that has been lost to human activity, but Ketrawe is the only one that actually gets the forest back by taking agricultural and cattle raising land away from farmers and converting it into forests.

Fantastic tree-planting project

I find myself buying trees from this project again and again - I really like your approach of building windshields, and then planting trees in the protected spaces (a simple but extremely way of protecting the saplings). It's wonderful to see your update photos of the planting activities and the trees/saplings. I especially liked seeing the coffee trees and imagined everyone benefitting from the fruits later on. I enjoy looking at your regular update photos and seeing exactly what you've been doing, and reading the comments you leave on my page (which is very much appreciated btw) It's obvious how passionate you feel about your project and trees in general - and you all look so healthy :) Wishing you all the best for Christmas and 2022. I browsed many projects in different sites and came to the conclusion that the Tree - Nation format is the most convincing one. I like the agroforestry proposal that Ketrawe offers, very creative, effective, and certainly it outsmarts the rest.

It is always amazing to see how much efforts the local communities are investing in the rewilding projects, and it is nice to think that what they are doing is something that will be appreciated by their kids and the future generations too.
