During my recent visit to the project in Simiyu region, Tanzania, I was joined by dedicated project staff — the backbone of Forest Garden success — who equip farmers with the knowledge and inputs they need, while providing constant follow-up, monitoring, and reporting to ensure thriving,

This is a great example of how agroforestry and teamwork go hand in hand — maintaining diverse crops requires coordination, especially during planting and harvest, when timing can make or break productivity.

By carefully selecting and nurturing trees alongside crops, they improve soil health, enhance biodiversity, and create long-term food security.

Carolina Majengo, a 33-year-old single mother of two, is transforming farming. Over four years, she’s built a thriving Forest Garden with 2,735 trees and diverse crops, producing over two dozen marketable products and ensuring a steady year-round income.

At the heart of it all is family. Cultivating trees and crops offers benefits that extend to the entire family, nurturing both their environment and their well-being.
