Eden Reforestation Projects

Eden Reforestation Projects, Nepal

Completato

Eden began its Nepal Reforestation Project in 2015 to help improve local livelihoods and restore forests in areas of critical importance. Eden has been working in 3 distinct regions across the country, including a partnership with Chitwan National Park, a World Heritage Site in Nepal. By partnering with the National Park system, Eden Projects is helping to protect and create a reforested buffer zone that is vital to protect animal habitat.

Hi there, I automatically contribute money every month to the planting of Dalbergia Sissoo (Indian Rosewood) but I see they are marked as all planted. Are you guys actually still planting them?

Dear Sirs;
Due the death of my wife, (Ana Maria Parracho Tome Feteira de Matos ) last 30 December 2022, it was planted one tree (Pinus roxburghii) , at the udiana of my wife at Eden Project- Nepal ( tree # 143558 ) , one of the projects managed by the ONG Tree-nation.

I would like to sponsor the planting of more 44 trees (Pinus roxburghii) at the same place around the first one ( tree # 143558 ) , in order that I can visit just one location with the 45 trees all together, when these trees will be grown.

I will be very grateful, if you can manage this situation, and give me the contacts contact / name / address / email / telef/ or other details . of the person that could arrange /manage this situation, and ensure this plantation, and make true this my wish , that I can contact later on to organize a trip from Portugal to the Nepal to visit these location with these trees to pay a tribute to my wife's memory.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards

Eduardo Matos

Hello Eduardo,
Thank you for your donation in honor of your wife. We are very sorry for your loss and we appreciate your contribution on her behalf. If you would like to sponsor more trees at this site please reach out directly to tree-nation (https://tree-nation.com/contact-us). The opportunity to visit our project sites opens up for our business partners once they have reached a cumulative funding level of $50,000.00. We cannot give out the contact information of the site manager.
Thank you again for your support of our projects.

In arborium servilusa Eden Park location

Hello! Thank you for your question. Can you please clarify what you are asking so I can make sure to give you an accurate answer?

Hello. What is the distribution arrangement for any fruits that are harvested? Who do these fruits go to? Who oversees this?

Thank you

My question applies not only to fruits, but also to medicine and any other byproduct of the plantation.

Hello! Thank you for your question! None of these planting sites in Nepal are agroforestry sites. However, there is a small amount of harvesting that occurs and that is overseen by the local leaders and the process will vary in each community.

We would like to know how high the mortality of the planted trees are in your project in Nepal?

Hello! Thank you for your question. The mortality rate of our project is between 15-20%. But as the forest is recovering, part of these lost trees are compensated by a natural reforestation process on our planting sites (new seeds which lead to additional trees between the trees we planted). Hope we could answer your question.

Has the planting season already started this year?

Hi Mirko. Thank your for your interest in our project's activities. We can confirm that the planting season in Nepal has started this month. We will keep you updated with info from the planting sites : )

Does this project have any CO2 certification (i.e. VCS, Gold Standard, and Plan Vivo)? I can't find any information around this topic.

Hello! Our Eden project in Nepal doesn't have any of these 3 CO2 certification standards. But soon we will be launching another EDEN project where we will "twin" all trees planted in the project with the same amount of CO2 from a VCS rainforest conservation project. So in this new project you can plant trees and offset VCS certified CO2 at the same time.

I would like to know if you are planting monocultures? I don't want to support plantations with monocultures, so I wonder if you maybe planting mixed cultures?

Hello! Thank you for your question. No worries! We plant 10 different species in this project and only native species. You can see all species we are planting with detailed information in the "Species" section of our TN project. Best regards!

Hello! I am Anand from Underdogs Hustle. Glad to be a part of this. Let's keep up the good work. Does the planting season start in July?

Hello to Barcelona! Your initiative Underdogs Hustle looks great! Thank you for your support! Yes, here in Nepal we start planting in June / July depending on the weather. Currently we work full speed in our nurseries to prepare the saplings for our planting sites.

Thanks a lot! How many years do you support and protect the project?

Hello again Angelo. We don't protect the project itself, but the planting sites and trees funded by the Tree-Nation community. All trees are monitored and maintained during 5 years (until they become old enough to keep growing on their own), afterwards we keep protecting "your" trees to guarantee a minimum lifespan of at least 10-20 years (years may vary depending on the species). And any commercial use of these trees (e.g. charcoal, wood for construction) is strictly forbidden. So most of the trees you are planting will offset CO2 for many decades to come : )

Hello, it's possible to follow the growth of the trees with pictures, news...? Do you replant a dying tree?

Hi Angelo. Thank you so much for your interest in our project. We plant many thousands of trees each year, so unfortunately we can't offer photos of each tree we are planting, but we post regular updates with news about our project activities. We use very sophisticated verification and monitoring tools to guarantee proof-of-planting and a survival rate of at least 80-90%. Whenever necessary we replace dead trees with new trees to guarantee this survival rate. Hope I could answer your questions?!

Hi! Could you please tell me when the planting season will start? Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hi Mirko. Thank you for your interest in our project. Due to our very long and freezing winter season, our planting season is rather short during the Summer months from July to September. So we have to wait until next Summer until we can plant the tree funded by the TN community. But we are also always very busy during the rest of the year with our nursery, tree monitoring, etc. (you can also always find info about the planting season at the end of the "About" section). Hope we could answer your question?! We also wish you are a Happy and Healthy New Year.
