One Tree Matters

AU Australia
Completato

We are building forests in the Wet Tropics of North Queensland, Australia. In particular we are connecting habitat and creating corridors for the endangered Southern Cassowary and Mahogany Glider. With your help we can save these species. Brettacorp Inc. has also built the first 10 Miyawaki Forests in Australia and we look forward to building many more with your support. Since 2015 we have planted over 100,000 native trees across 40 acres.

The fauna are waiting!

One tree matters as does each fauna and wild creature. What a great way to revive the forest ecosystem of NQ.

Great work !

I have just been to see Brettacorp's new community native tree nursery. It looks great, Brett and the volunteers have done a terrific job. With all their new seedlings, I look forward to seeing more forest planted around the Cassowary Coast soon.

One tree matters

In 2021 he Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki passed away, at age 93. His legacy lives on.

Miyawaki forests are popping up everywhere right now, especially in urban contexts as “tiny forests”. I like the “One Tree Matters” project because it puts the Miyawaki concept into practice in a new environment (and aiming at ultimately higher impact than urban “tiny forests”). One of the Miyawaki principles to plant exclusively native species in great diversity, to establish rapidly selfsustaining new forests. Hence the 36 diverse species offered. Another principle is the thorough soil preparation, which may in part account for the comparatively high upfront price per tree (besides fair pay, which is costly in high-income countries like Australia). Brettacorp is a non-profit, so I’d expect are no undue gains.

Another plus is the local buy-in, including tree nurseries from the traditional landowners (see the comment of the Girringun native plant nursery below – also their website at https://www.girringun.com/).

I find this small project quite stirring, planted some trees here, and look forward to continuing so in 2022.

Connecting Rainforest Corridors in the Wet Tropics

It's inspiring seeing someone accomplish so much for the environment with such a simple direct approach. You can see his trees along the highway, on farms and in critical cassowary habitat. Thank you Brett.

Great constructive work rather than destructive - go tree nation! We are rooting for you.

This is what a great friend chose as my birthday gift, two trees planted via your page, to remind of my roots in Australia, to help me make our world a little healthier, a little greener, help Australia stay its beautiful self. Thank you for this amazing birthday gift.

P.s.: since most people use their mobile phones these days, it'd be good to make this page more mobile phone use friendly - the ratings are invisible on a phone, so are the menu buttons. Meaning, I was unable to write a review from my phone, maybe that's why not enough people leave reviews?

Repairers and Carers of our Beautiful Land we have been Gifted with.

One Tree Matter definitely says it all ,without One Tree where will we be ? We have been lucky to get to share local knowledge from our Indigenous perspective of the land to
supplying local plants that we collect from the areas of the Girringun region which includes the Tully River areas and local knowledge have been a great way of Sharing rather than just telling it from one side. Brett and Sally are both locals who have the passion and time for land -change and who have been willing to share their knowledge and understand of what the land needs and the results have spoken for themselves . What makes me smile with admiration when i drive past is the view of the site and location and how each sites planted have shown just what plant/tree types grows in certain soil types and location. I always mention to family and friends some of those trees We grew from Seeds in our nursery "yayyyyyy'' . The inclusion of local indigenous knowledge gives an extra boost and drive for us as Traditional owners to know our local knowledge is finally getting out there. We here at Girringun Aboriginal Corporation have Great Admiration for Brett and Sally and continue to support in ways where we can and ONE TREE , really does Matter .

Contagious enthusiam

We were fortunate enough to meet Brett & Sally at an MTG course. Bretts enthusiam is so contagious he has given us direction and incentive to continue on with replanting barren sugar cane land to turn into something for many generations to enjoy and share and hopefully bring back the bird and animal life into the suburbs
Thank you Brettacorp for showing us THAT ONE TREE MATTERS.

Yuruga Nursery Supports Positive Enviromental Impacts

At Yuruga Nursery we are fortunate to have a business relationship with Brettacorp. As a foundation, Brettacorp are very professional to deal with and Brett Krause is always a pleasure to liaise with. It is always great to see such a genuine passion for the environment, native wildlife protection through reforestation and the positive flow on effect that the projects have with community awareness.

Talent + enthusiasm = success

By example, Brett is developing a great momentum of habitat restoration in Queensland's biodiversity-rich but heavily modified Wet Tropics landscape. He and Sally combine organising ability to ensure the success of reveg events and boost sustainability by tapping the expertise of forest practitioners in fora which allow that expertise to be shared and inspire volunteers not merely to plant trees but to understand the process so they can continue the work with a sense of pride and fulfilment.

In 2019 Brettacorp secured $100,000 for the 20 million trees project through the National Land Care program. The Australian Government is working with the community to plant 20 million trees by 2020, to re-establish green corridors and urban forests.

This work directly improves water quality, habitat and soil condition that is critical habitat for the Southern Cassowary and Mahogany Glider.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council supports Brettacorp in their quest for ongoing funding for conservation projects and confirms this organisations capacity to undertake projects.

The One Tree Matters project covers, conservation, preservation of endemic plant species, volunteer inclusion and diversity in collaborations with wider community groups including local, state and federal government.

Encouraging community to improve our fragmented environment

This is a project that is making a positive difference in our environment. Brettacorp do a fantastic job at involving the local community to help rebuild our forests. Such great outcomes for our environment.

Supporting communities

AustraHort is a keen supporter of this project and others like it on the east coast of Australia. Given the recent bush fires in the south there is much work to do! Its people like Brett and his enthusiastic team of helpers that will make a difference.

In the fragile ecosystems of Far North Qld projects like this one offer significant benefits in ameliorating environmental degradation and offering positive social outcomes.

Making a difference with every tree!

Personally I have supported Brettacorp since they began and have actively been involved in planting trees with them. As the owner of a small tourism business donating and planting trees with Brettacorp is also a way we offset our small business emissions. Brettacorp are passionate about re-vegetation and now have a great following as they are actively out there doing it!

Beacon of Light

Brett and Sally's involvement in One Tree Matters, shines a much needed light in a holistic approach to ecosystems rehabilitation/restoration projects.

I write from an inquiring, observant 'local born' perspective, who has witnessed the demise of some of our key pristine environments. Such as, our inshore reefs (see Muddy Waters: Life and Death on the Great Barrier Reef, that featured our Tully River/Dunk Island), our wetlands, and wildlife corridors.

Brettacorp's need of support is of paramount importance, not only for our wildlife, but also as a means of sustainable nature-based economic opportunities, for the whole of community.

Enthusiastic and dedicated agents for change

Brett and Sally and their Brettacorp Foundation are making a real difference in tropical north Queensland. They support an enthusiastic community of volunteers to undertake monthly tree plantings and with training to revegetate cleared and degraded farm land. It is inspirational to see tree plantings providing new habitat and food trees for critically endangered species like the southern cassowary and mahogany glider. Brett and Sally are rightly recognised as true leaders in their community who are making an important difference in the world.

Brett's Miyawaki

Brettacorp, Brett, Sally and their team all work extremely hard with their revegetation projects. Brettacorp are committed to rebuilding forests in our part of Tropical North Queensland (Australia) with the end result being that they are providing habitat for our endangered cassowaries, mahogany gliders and the many other birds and animals who have moved into the areas that Brett and Sally have helped to revegetate. Their previous planting projects look amazing, particularly their Miyawaki plots. There are now dense stands of native trees growing where there was once 2 metre tall guinea grass and weeds. Keep up the good work.

Brettacorp inspires action

Brett and his crew have been instrumental in helping our organisation get support for planting a corridor of rainforest which is critical for the endangered cassowary. Brett's expertise and enthusiasm are a fantastic driver for making projects happen and getting trees in the ground where they are needed.

Man of Action

Lots of people talk about doing something about climate change and habitat loss, but Brett does more than talk - he spends his hours and energy getting trees in the ground and controlling the weeds that compete with them. Brett has amazing willpower, and works hard when others might elect to take a break (waiting for more favourable conditions, or doing things with the assistance of herbicides). The proof is in the pudding though, because there are now native trees growing, where previously there was tall, rank, exotic tropical grass.

Fantastic initiative

One tree matters is an excellent environmental initiative in one of the worlds oldest rainforest areas. Most of the land being replanted with natives had been cleared decades before and the group is doing a fantastic job reclaiming marginal land in a state with such an abysmal land clearing rate, especially in primary catchment areas to the Great Barrier Reef. And the monthly tree planting days are fun, educational and a great way to meet people. Brett and Sally are doing such a great job driving these projects but more support is needed for grass roots organisations like this one!

Brettacorp Inc - Amazing.......

Bygreen has been supporting Brettacorp Inc in their endeavours to "Replant The Amazon" in North Qld - Australia. Brett has an unbelievable drive and passion to replant native trees, in revegitation areas of the Tully region.
We will continue to support Brett, but he needs additional support and funding to keep going with his work. We share his social media, which you will find most entertaining and his passion and excitement wants to make you join in his plight. Well done Brett, and all of the volunteers who have supported Brett so far. Forest Builder Guru's.....

A great way to meet people

One Tree Matters is an excellent project that develops not only positive environmental outcomes but also great social and well being activities. Our community is expanding and together we are all making a difference by getting together once a month to plant trees for the future. I've made lots of new connections and learned so much over the last 5 years by being part of this great team.
