Oak seedlings are being planted!

Our planting season has officially started! Approximately one month earlier than usual, due to the unusually warm weather, we began planting the first thousands of oak seedlings on the foothills of the Ciomad Mountain.

We are planting with the help of paid workers on the sides of the designated area.

 A significant portion of the seedlings will be planted in the next days, during the optimal period, shortly after being removed from the nursery, until we organize the open planting days at the end of the month (the first one on March 23rd). This ensures that our open planting days will be a celebration of the newly planted oak groves, where we can place greater emphasis on the educational aspect of planting.

Planting manually in grass-covered surfaces using the most archaic method is not the easiest job on the planet... However, we can ensure that every one of the 10 000 seedlings to be planted here is properly planted in a manually prepared pit, thus imitating a natural, slow transition from human-made grassland to forest without compromising the soil life and the carbon stored in the upper layers of the soil and without the need to use any chemical substances.

Meanwhile, our bear mascot - on top of the page- ( these trees are planted in prime brown bear habitat) is eagerly awaiting the community planting days, and his peers are looking forward to collecting the first acorns that the newly planted small oaks will produce in the coming decades :)
