Employee Update from Madagascar

When you support our project in Madagascar, you help people like Justin create a better life for themselves and their families. Justin lives in Androhibe, Madagascar, and has seven children and many more grandchildren. Before he started working with us, he was a rice farmer and charcoal maker. His job required him to cut down approximately 100 trees per month to make ten gunny sacks of charcoal, but it still wasn’t enough. Justin struggled to provide and buy food for him and his family. The stress of his financial situation caused him to lose sleep at night, but things changed when we opened a new planting site near the end of 2019. Justin allowed us to build a 100,000-pot nursery on his property and has since taken a lead role on the project. He can now feed his family consistently and even bought a cow with hopes to grow a herd. Without the financial stress, he says he can now sleep at night. Justin said: “I feel happy. It is like the sun is rising on my life. My heart is lit up as I am old, and I can make a living.” Your support gives people like Justin a consistent income so they can afford daily necessities and rest easier knowing they can provide for themselves and their families.
