Our project works with over 54k local farmers in the Mount Elgon region to grow trees and build sustainable livelihoods. Uganda has lost at least 12% of its tree cover since 2001, threatening both the environment and local communities. By focusing on forest restoration and reducing the need for logging and unsustainable agriculture, we work to reverse this trend and protect the land for future generations.
In 2024, we planted this woodlot in Kocheka Subcounty using seedlings from Kocheka Nursery, with support from Tree Nation.

A thriving woodlot of indigenous tree species is taking shape at Kocheka Subcounty, Bukedea District. These native trees are well suited to the local climate and soil, making them essential for restoring natural habitats and improving environmental health.
Planting trees at the household level is transforming communities. These farmers are leading the way by growing trees that will provide shade, protect soil, and support biodiversity.
