Trees for Water

Trees for Water, Indien

Abgeschlossen

The project is located in the Maharashtra state which is suffering from severe droughts in recent years due to seasonal water scarcity, limiting the access to potable water of the most marginalized communities in India. Short periods of heavy rainfall and absence of vegetation are major factors for soil erosion and land degradation. Trees protect against soil erosion and make the soil more permeable, thus improving groundwater availability.

Rooted Resilience.Trees as Guardians of Water in Maharashtra

The Trees for Water project in Maharashtra offers a vital solution to the region's water scarcity challenges. By planting trees to combat soil erosion and improve groundwater availability, the initiative addresses the pressing need for sustainable access to potable water. Beyond environmental benefits, it promises socio-economic development through employment opportunities and enhanced community engagement. In essence, this project is a transformative endeavor poised to make a lasting impact on both the environment and the well-being of local communities living in and around that area.

good project

Other than absorption of water, trees also improve the water retention capacity of land. Other than that, trees release water vapors through transpiration, which contributes to formation of clouds and also acts as natural water purifiers, This is a good project and the need of the hour

If there is water there is life

Hi, I am Raju Jatav and have studied M.Sc Forestry.

Project- Trees for water is a great work because in these days most of the countries have scarcity of drinkable water so in this situation, we should plant more trees to improve the water table. Trees are associate with our life direct and indirect because trees provide fruits, fodder, fuelwood, timber and NTFPs. Trees decrease the pollution, improve the air quality, soil health and environmental conditions.

We need more trees...

Some may die depending on the climate and other conditions. The number is not so high, we need more trees.

A great project for a great cause.

The diversity of species and the excellent organic techniques used by them let me speechless, they are not only fighting for nature but on a much bigger scale, definitely a cause I need to support!
