Our project plants new rainforest on public and protected private land. Working with stakeholders, we plant and restore weed-filled areas to create authentic rainforest based on government regional mapping. Trees are grown locally from locally sourced seed, with the aim of restoring ecological function and increasing habitat and food resource for our wildlife, such as Southern cassowaries, Bennett's tree-kangaroos and Spectacled flying-foxes.

Great to host 20 people from the Sierra Club (USA) to plant another 150 trees at the Bells Road, Newell site in tropical far North Queensland yesterday.

Our next area for Tree-nation planting of 400 trees at the Bells Road, Newell site in far North Queensland, Australia. We are looking forward to turning this from weed grasses back to native forest.

Preparing land for two school plantings at the Bells Road, Newell project, and a huge thank you to the landowners for the initial slashing. This will be another 300 trees going in, and first planting this year after a very long wet season.

One of the species we regularly plant on all our sites is the Drupe Fig (Ficus drupacea). A large spreading tree with bright orange fruit which turns nearly black when ripe, and eaten by Cassowaries, Rainforest Doves and Tube-nosed bats.

Before and now. Back on 29 March 2022, with a request from our local council, with council staff and volunteers, we planted 525 trees near the foreshore at Wonga Beach to replace weeds with coastal species. They have grown a bit (understatement) with some reaching 10-15 metres tall

Connie planting more trees yesterday as we near completion of Zone B on the Bells Road project. Of the 6200 trees for the zone, we only have around 700 trees left to plant. The trees on the right were planted around three months ago.

Yesterday we completed planting the second batch of 360 trees on the western side of the Bells Road, Newell project. This brings the total to 720 trees (foreground to Connie in the background) fully funded by Tree-nation.

Look how they grow. On 14 June, we planted the first 40 trees on Zone B at the Bells Road, Newell project. We took this drone shot yesterday morning. With another 300+ trees being planted today, it will take the total to 4000+ trees out of 6000 for the zone.

And another 320 trees planted this morning in Zone B of the Bells Road, Newell project. This is our dry season in the Wet Tropics region, but good showers are keeping the soil hydrated.
