Lost Forests Recovery in California

Lost Forests Recovery in California, Estados Unidos

Our project focuses on restoring forests lost to recent wildfires in California. Wildfires are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change, with rising temperatures and prolonged droughts following historically low rainfall. By replanting native trees and rehabilitating damaged ecosystems, we help these forests recover and build resilience against future wildfires.

The coast live oak, native to California, is highly fire-resistant. Its thick, deeply furrowed bark and leathery leaves protect against fires. The roots are insulated by a corky layer, preventing heat damage. Even if damaged by fire, the tree can readily sprout and regrow.

Keeping forests balanced and well-managed is key to preventing severe wildfires. By removing excess brush and ensuring diversity in tree species and age, we reduce the fuel for fires and create natural barriers. This not only protects the forest's biodiversity but also shields nearby
