Forest Gardens - Simiyu Region

Women are key drivers in tree planting and agroforestry, enhancing biodiversity, food security, and economic resilience. Their intimate knowledge of local ecosystems and sustainable practices positions them as crucial leaders in marrying agriculture with environmental stewardship.

A key aspect of our project involves cultivating seedlings that we can subsequently distribute to the farmers participating in our Forest Gardens program.

Before farmers started the Forest Garden program, they often had long breaks when no food could be grown on their land, leaving them with little to sell. Once farmers establish their Forest Gardens, they are able to harvest five to twenty different varieties of fruits and vegetables
