Cocoa Farmer Agroforestry

CM Camarões
Concluído

This Trees for the Future (TREES) agroforestry project in Western Cameroon addresses erosion, food insecurity and the unsustainable farming practices of smallholder cocoa farmers. Through the intercropping of multipurpose trees and fruit trees, this project is helping 500 cocoa farmers to grow higher quality cocoa while improving their land, and livelihoods. We will plant 1 milllion trees (2.000 trees x farmer)

Sustainable Farming is Sweet

Moving to this sustainable agroforestry model is essential if we hope to keep enjoying things like high quality chocolate and coffee well into the future. When it comes to maintaining crops for things that sustain us, like cocoa and coffee, supporting this project and the work of Trees for the Future is a win for all of us.

Cocoa production and trees go well together!

As with coffee, it is nice to see that the knowledge is spreading that coffee and cocoa plantations really benefit from the shade of trees.
The trees' root systems also help the soil remain in place and prevent catastrophic landslides.
I am so glad to see such projects take root everywhere.

Agro-forestry at its best!

What an amazing community, building the local economy and increasing forest cover!
