Our project is focused on restoring Córdoba's high-altitude forests, which are essential to the region's water supply. With only 3% of these forests remaining, they continue to serve as natural reservoirs, providing water to 90% of the population. By replanting native Tabaquillo trees (Polylepis australis), we aim to bring back forests to the mountains again while protecting biodiversity, and secure water resources for future generations.

🌱 Every young tree that grows is an opportunity for life to find its way back. Restoration is not just about planting trees; it’s about rebuilding the connections between soil, water, biodiversity, and people. It’s a journey of patience, knowledge, and commitment to the ecosystems

Every day, the Bosques de Agua team walks through the nursery. They check the tabaquillo seedlings Polylepis australis one by one, water them and monitor their health.

It's quiet, daily work: a seedling well cared for today reaches the mountain with a better chance of taking root

First, we learned to plant a tree.
✨Then, we learned to plant something else.

💓We are at the service of forests, water, nature, art, humanity, and life.

from seed to soil.

If we open ourselves to the realm of possibilities, what once seemed impossible can become inevitable.

🌱 8 out of 10 seeds germinate.

🌳 Direct field seeding is the present and future of native forest reforestation.

What lies beneath every step we take in life?
⛅It's not just about planting. There's something more, and perhaps it's the only thing that truly matters.
We are restoring the planet, while restoring ourselves.

This is how our tabaquillo seedlings are progressing. From the germination of bioactivated seeds to their development in tubes, we carefully manage the entire process before taking them to their final location in the mountains where they will become forests.

Forest and water are the same story. In the Sierras Grandes, the tabaquillo (Polylepis australis) works like a living sponge: its foliage catches moisture from the clouds and its soil holds rainwater, infiltrates it and releases it slowly toward the springs.

We came across a collared peccary at the Bosques de Agua reserve. And it's wonderful news.

The peccary (Pecari tajacu) is native wildlife of our sierras and needs native forest to survive. Its presence in the woodland means the ecosystem is recovering: where the forest returns,

We climbed the mountain to collect tabaquillo seeds and continue restoring our native forests. Every seed we gather represents a promise of more life and water for our mountains. 🌱⛰️

After planting a Tabaquillo tree, we always come back:

Every tabaquillo we sow in the Sierras Grandes, we return to find. We call this monitoring: going back to the same spot, locating the seedling, and recording whether it took, how much it grew, and the state of its health.

It all begins with a seed in your hand.
Before the forest, before the water that flows down to the sierras, there's a group of people walking the high peaks, searching among the branches for the seeds of the tabaquillo (Polylepis australis), the native tree of the Sierras Grandes.

This is a tabaquillo seedling that took root.

What you're holding is a tabaquillo seedling (Polylepis australis) planted in the field, in the heart of the Pampa de Achala, at over 2,300 meters above sea level. It's already putting down roots in the mountains.

The forest we give back to the mountain..
We show you this aerial scene. Three people, three smiles, held up by the canopies of the tabaquillos. A few decades ago, much of these summits were forests full of biodiversity. Today, less than 3% of the original forest survives.

Our first high-altitude forests are returning!
Four years after our first Polylepis plantings in the Sierras Grandes of Córdoba, Argentina, we revisited the area. We were immensely pleased to find specimens already reaching 1.80 meters in height. For a mountain region with slow-growing

Congratulations guys! You are doing a great job!!

These are our two operational greenhouses in Pampa de Achala, the high-altitude cradle of our restoration efforts.

The process begins by placing our improved seeds—processed with specific technology to ensure a higher germination rate—directly into their pots. This initial step
