Hi Godfrey, it was really sad to read your thread, where in Uganda are the majority of these industrial deforestation projects based? Maybe you saw that we currently have two projects in Uganda that are open for planting and four more under validation. I would be interested to see where specifically would our projects be most needed in Uganda.
Hi Godfrey - I agree it was sad to read your post. The two projects TN has in Uganda are great ones to plant in btw
Forest Gardens - Mount Elgon Region, Uganda: This project trains 700 farmers during 4 years to implement the Forest Garden Approach (FGA) methodology in Uganda's Mount Elgon region. The FGA restores degraded land, captures carbon, improves biodiversity, and prevents unsustainable land use practises. Emphasizing sustainable agroforestry, the participating farmers will plant more than 2 million trees, and receive the resources and knowledge they need to succeed (thus ending hunger + poverty)

VCS Afforestation Program, Uganda: The International Small Group + Tree Planting Program is a community initiative dedicated to empowering small groups of 27,000 subsistence farmers to combat the devastating effects of deforestation, poverty and drought through a combination of sustainable development with carbon sequestration. Sales of VCS/CCB carbon credits generate participant income while the project today also addresses agriculture, HIV/AIDS, nutrition + fuel wood challenge”

Projects under construction:
Tree planting for climate justice, Uganda: The restoration project aim to restore areas in advanced stages of degradation including areas in the process of desertification in Busongora County. Tree seedlings are raised in nursery beds after which they are distributed to planting areas. The project aim to plant over 8 million trees

Re-building Chimps Habitat Namalwa, Uganda: The project is located in Namalwa Ndama Kibale District, It is an important project of planting trees in order to reforestate the degraded forests creating a habitant for the chimps. The project woks with community living around the chimp hosting communities to plant trees to create more forest cover in the area and contribute to carbon reduction. The project has so far planted about 35.000 indigenous trees of different species

Habitat Restoration, Uganda: The main milestone of this project is the biodegradable system that we have developed, which allows not only to avoid the use of many plastics but also to generate added value to women in risk of exclusion and local communities

Restoring Kasyoha-Kitomi Landscape, Uganda: This project aims to increase tree cover in Kasyoha Kitomi Central Forest Reserve (CFR) in line with Uganda's government priorities to restore environmental services. The Kasyoha-Kitomi forest is part of a network of Protected Areas (PAs) and is one of Uganda's most threatened natural resources. This project will provide solutions through ecological restoration and environmental education programs. The projected has already planted 9 hectares

I like to support projects for smokeless cookstoves, as this means fewer trees are cut for cooking / charcoal- quite a few cookstove projects in Uganda:

Specialized Second Marriage Gone are the days when introducing potential partners to each other was a job done by parents only. In recent years, matrimonial sites have made it easier for individuals to find a compatible partner. Along with helping you to browse through different profiles, they also help you to connect with different people. However, second marriage is still not an easy task for both men and women in Pakistan.
@Doosri - I think you have shared this comment in the wrong post!
@Godfrey, sadly, some reforesting companies are the same which cut the existing forests ... because it's simplier to manage, better on the paper, for CO2 compensation purpose ... but there is no hope in killing entire ecosystems ...
I sincerely hope that TN is aware of this kind of pratices and don't validate such projects ...
