Daintree Life Revegetation

Daintree Life Revegetation, Austrália

Our project restores key areas like old service roads and weedy reserves to increase habitat for wildlife such as Southern Cassowaries and Bennetts Tree-kangaroos. We select sites based on access, community input, and their potential for creating wildlife corridors. Our goal is to plant 500,000 indigenous trees by 2030, with nearly 20,000 already planted since 2018 to help regenerate the Daintree Rainforest.

Six months of healthy growth since planting. This one is a Candlenut (Aleurites rockinghamensis). Very satisfying to plant little knee-high trees and watch them reach head high so soon in our tropical climate.

Planting trees bear fruit. We planted this Red-leaf fig (Ficus congesta) around 5 years ago. Like many figs, this one has cauliflorous fruit - meaning they sprout directly from the trunk and larger branches. Our visiting cassowaries love these, and when ripe, it is so nice to watch

Lovely fresh growth from the planting so far on stage 1 of the Bells Road, Newell planting project this morning. This is a Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata). So good to see the newly planted trees have 'found their feet' and are now pumping energy into new growth. Grow strong little
