Ala Forest Reserve, encompassing approximately 45,000 hectares, stands as one of the degraded forest reserves in South West Nigeria. Over the years, it has endured significant degradation from unsustainable logging, bushfires, overgrazing, and inadequate management practices. This project, with local communities, has undertaken the initiative to restore a portion of this degraded forest, commencing with 2,000 hectares as a starting point.

Growing a Greener Future in Nigeria: Aerobic Agroforestry takes the lead!

I know owner and CEO of Aerobic Agroforestry, Mr. Adewumi Owolabi already for years and frequently I support him and his company in his unstoppable passion to “re-green Nigeria”.

This is realized for example by adopting degraded forest areas and implement inclusive sustainable agroforestry models together with local communities.

Traditional farming methods have often led to soil degradation, deforestation, and a decline in biodiversity. Aerobic Agroforestry recognizes these problems and seeks solutions that would benefit both food security and the environment by for example combining the principles of forestry with agricultural crops and/or livestock. It creates an ecosystem where trees, plants, and animals work together to create a healthy, productive environment. Unlike traditional agriculture, which often relies on fertilizers and pesticides, aerobic agroforestry relies on natural processes such as soil health, biodiversity, and water retention.
