The Ala Forest Reserve, encompassing approximately 45,000 hectares, stands as one of the degraded forest reserves in South West Nigeria. Over the years, it has endured significant degradation from unsustainable logging, bushfires, overgrazing, and inadequate management practices. This project has undertaken the initiative to restore a portion of this degraded forest, commencing with 2,000 hectares as a starting point. This restoration effort aims to sustainably manage the reserve, focusing on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and collaborating with local communities in alignment with our core values. To date, we have successfully planted around 1.5 million trees, reintroducing a diverse array of flora and fauna that once characterized this forest reserve before its degradation.

Aerobic Agroforestry is a leading Nigerian provider of diverse agroforestry seedlings aimed at providing local nature-based solutions to tackle climate change through agroforestry practice. Apart from seedling production, it conducts tree-planting initiatives for ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, food production and livelihood improvement. Aerobic Agroforestry has partnered with the local community to adopt one of the degraded forests in Ala for ecosystem restoration.
