Simiyu Farmer-Led Agroforestry

Simiyu Farmer-Led Agroforestry

TZ Tanzânia

Our project employs a unique agroforestry approach that benefits local farmers and the environment. Monoculture and logging have degraded the land and left farmers reliant on a single source of income. So far, over 700 farmers are using the Forest Garden approach to rebuild food systems, improve livelihoods, and restore the environment. CO2 per species is rounded to 50kg, as this project is twinned with VCS credits.

Growing crops surrounded by trees is a sustainable farming practice that benefits both the land and the harvest.

Soil: a tree’s best friend, and one of our most valuable resources.
Trees enrich the soil by returning nutrients like nitrogen, which boosts crop yields. In return, healthy soil supports strong, thriving trees. It’s a natural partnership—and the foundation of a balanced, productive

Black bean seeds: small but mighty.

Rich in nutrients, they not only provide food security and income for families but also improve soil health by fixing nitrogen naturally. A simple seed with the power to nourish people and the land.

Great! 🌳💕🌱

We regularly check in with our farmers to track the progress of their forest gardens and support them in overcoming any challenges along the way.

This is Betty. She joined our program in 2022 with 15 neighboring farmers. Over two years, they learned to establish regenerative Forest Gardens. Betty transformed half a hectare of land, initially home to just 17 trees, into a thriving Forest Garden with over 2,500 trees. As the
