Hello,
I'm going to start with a question:
Has this version been validated by a player?
This new version is oppressive, the player no longer has any overview. Personally, it makes me feel claustrophobic. I don't enjoy ‘playing’ at all any more, I feel like I'm working on a production line in a ‘water drops’ factory.
I've been waiting months for this new version that TN promised us, and it's a huge disappointment.
I use a MacBook...
Best regards
Whereas seeing the water drop count is interesting I don't feel it has improved the experience and gets in the way. The most important factor in the game, I feel, is having easy and quick access to all the seeds that require watering. I much preferred being able to see all the seeds in a grid display as opposed to now only being able see one seed (too large I might add) and having to scroll a lot more in order to get to the next seed. Very frustrating and time consuming to be honest. It was frustrating on the phone as it was, which I have stopped using for TN because of this and also because of the constant reloading of the page. But now on my laptop, which I have been using and was much better (no reloading) and being able to get to see so many seeds on the page at once was more effective for me, I am being forced to view things as on my phone. Not meaning to be negative, I do feel this new version is a step backwards. 🫤
I agree with Cedric and Joana, having a larger or smaller box with the drops of water available is of little importance, whereas having an excessively large box for each individual tree to be watered is tiring,
before you could quickly choose which trees to water, now you have to scroll and scroll to be able to choose. This is a clear worsening, but I wonder... has whoever created this system ever tried to water? Greetings
I agree with the first 3 commenters...I want the grid back where we can see multiple seeds at a time. There is WAY too much scrolling now, it's ridiculous!
The seeds are also not in order anymore. Oldest First shows days 6 and 7 all mixed together...there's no way to tell which seeds are oldest. I just watered and I'm not sure I'll be back; the process is way too slow now.
I like the weather forecast, I couldn't see that on my mobile before. I have always had to scroll a lot on mobile, but I agree with others - the box at the top is too big. I don't need to have the 'plant new seed' button showing all the time, just water drops left would be enough. The loading does seem a bit quicker than it has been though.
The number of days left on seeds seems a bit all over the place. Some newly planted seeds have only 6 days, some that were planted a few days ago have 9 days left.
I agree with Cedric and Joana. When things work, it is better not to touch them. We should go back to the old system, with a page with a limited number of seeds, and then go through the pages by pressing the corresponding button, without continuous loading. I think what has been done is a step backwards, it does not allow an overview of the seeds (to choose which ones to water according to the number of drops and days left) and it makes the watering process slower. I also think that we should accept small images as before.
I planted my latest seed 18 hours ago and it says it only has 5 days left???
All the seeds are coming in with no order. I watered some seeds with 8 days left and they were followed by seeds with only 4 and 5 days left, even though I have my preference set at older seeds first. And the ridiculously slow loading of the pages continues. So many regulars have disappeared off the seed site. I keep saying that I will leave but I still keep returning. But I'm sure one of these day soon I will choose to stop participating.
@Carolyn: It's sad, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing...
Carolyn and Cedric, very demoralizing to see how they are progressively taking away the pleasure of playing...
It seems like a joke to me. To continue or not to continue that is the question....
I agree too, the new version is not user friendly at all, the time to water the seeds has tripled.
the previous version was much better.
Hi all
please note this design is not final. The reason behind putting things in 1 line is a technical one. Many users had strong and valid complaints that the seed game was buggy. There is a technical limit where above a certain number of players this was bound to happen in the previous version and this part should be fixed. Please note that the 1 line presentation and continuous loading have been adopted by every social media, in mobile obviously, but also in their desktop version (X, Linkedin, Facebook...).
So we are confident this is the right technological approach but it does require a lot of attention to details and fine-tuning the experience. In general, no one is complaining about their experience in browsing the Linkedin feed in desktop. So a good result can be achieved, and when thinking desktop, we take our inspiration from the Linkedin feed.
Due to the importance of fine-tuning, in this sense, we probably have shipped too early. We had a sense of urgency due to the comments in this forum where many were informing us of a buggy experience, nearly not able to use the game. So please consider this version is really an intermediary version. There are still lots of improvements on the user experience: improving content loading, improving the visualization and "claustrophobic" feeling, and speed. We will try to ship them asap.
From today I will ask every person in our team to be a systematic daily player of the game too. Some are already obviously but we'll make sure we are the first one to "feel" the game.
We will also accelerate our Ambassador program that consist in getting in contact with some of our most active users in order to receive more direct and complete feedbacks. Our team will be contacting some of you by email to see if you would be interested to bring your help one step further (or you can leave a comment below if interested).
Also important to mention: the seed game is more meant to be played in your mobile than a desktop, alike all the Social platforms. We will also introduce an app, which will make it even more convenient on mobile. I really recommend you to try it on mobile and share your opinion about the mobile experience. It should prove more convenient.
Please be assured we will not rest until making the experience amazing. The seed game is core in our future strategy and we have a big plan to extend its reach. While it is planting "only" 11,000 trees a year, our plan is targeting 100,000 trees end of next year.
Thank you Maxime. I have only ever played the game on mobile, and find the new version much better than it has been these past few months. Looking forward to seeing more improvements. If the target is for 100,000 trees next year, we will need a lot more players willing to sponsor...
It skips around some trees I don't even see for several days. It takes so much longer to scroll through now. So many promises of better when it just gets more complicated.
