Our project restores key areas like old service roads and weedy reserves to increase habitat for wildlife such as Southern Cassowaries and Bennetts Tree-kangaroos. We select sites based on access, community input, and their potential for creating wildlife corridors. Our goal is to plant 500,000 indigenous trees by 2030, with nearly 20,000 already planted since 2018 to help regenerate the Daintree Rainforest.

Winding back a couple of days. Here is a video still of landowners, Gordon & Jody (and Rufus the dog) planting the very first two trees of 33,000 on the Daintree Life Bells Road, Newell project. Only 32,998 to go. Such nice people to work with. These trees are funded by Tree-nation

It begins. How do you plant 33,000 trees? Start with a pilot planting of 300 trees this morning - all funded by Tree-nation supporters for the Bells Road project. Next one will be a community planting of 1000 trees in about 3 weeks time - and then more - and more. Big thanks to Gordon

While overseas in the UK, we visited the Heart Of England Forest near Stratford-upon-Avon. Always good to see how other people do it. This photo shows thousands of Oak Seedlings in the ground. When complete, this nursery will accomodate around 2 million young trees. HOEF are planting

Before and after. Trees grow fast in our tropical climate. Here is an area of council land we planted with help from Tree-nation supporters where once was 2m high introduced Guinea Grass. Planted August 2019 and bottom photo is this week. No more Guinea grass. Let's keep replacing

A Scented phaleria (Phaleria clerodendron) we planted four years ago is in mass flower. This is just one bunch of flowers illuminated in a shaft of light. These flowers are cauliflorous - meaning they grow directly out of the trunk and branches. Let's keep planting rainforest trees

Just finished planting 700 trees on the foreshore at Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia. The trees and shrubs were planted to help stabilise the area which was previously damaged. Here is a little video of the event.

Next generation of seedlings. This is a tray full of baby Acacia mangium (Hickory Wattle) seedlings which is just one of around 80 species to be planted in stage one of our huge new Bells Road, Newell project. These are one of six emergent species which will dominate above canopy

Southern Cassowary footprint in our latest planting area. Given the size and location, we think this is a juvenile travelling with his or her dad (called Steve). In this section we just planted another 150 trees which will all help feed cassowaries in the future.
