Overview

A forest can burn in an afternoon and take decades to return. Fire releases the carbon those trees spent a lifetime storing, and where the burn runs hottest it takes the seed bank the forest would have grown from.

Here is the part worth holding onto: nine out of ten forest fires are started by people (Source: FAO). We cause them, so we can prevent most of them, and we can replant the ones we already lost. Nothing is lost forever.
