Our project restores key areas like old service roads and weedy reserves to increase habitat for wildlife such as Southern Cassowaries and Bennetts Tree-kangaroos. We select sites based on access, community input, and their potential for creating wildlife corridors. Our goal is to plant 500,000 indigenous trees by 2030, with nearly 20,000 already planted since 2018 to help regenerate the Daintree Rainforest.
I had the opportunity to spend the last few days with Connie and Dave, the powerhouses behind Daintree LIfe. The work that this team does is an inspiration to me. To see what two people can achieve is outstanding, and a reminder to us all of the power of vision, determination, and fairness. Daintree Life has a goal defined for themselves: reforestation of cleared and weed-infested patches north of the Daintree River. And they have a strong strategy: partnering with council and the local land-owners to locate land that would profit from tree planting. A key to their approach was elucidated by Dave "we treat everyone the same, whether they're planting one tree or one thousand trees". With this ethos, they have been able to start small, show local land-owners of the benefits of tree-planting, and to gradually grow and gain respect in the community.
Daintree Life plants a diverse and ecologically appropriate set of species, using best-practices in terms of site preparation, spacing, and watering. They plant primarily in the wet season to avoid transplant shock, and it pays off, with <1% of seedlings dying in the first year.
Their work is admirable, and deserves your support.

Hello,
The important environmental work Dave & Connie are doing with Daintree Life cannot be echoed enough.
I'm a rainforest botanist/ecologist and a farmer based in the Tweed Valley of subtropical NE NSW and have been involved with environmental work for over 30 years and seen a great amount of projects both in tropical Australia and overseas specifically relating to rainforests. The Daintree has been a place I have studied and visited for 25 years.
Over the previous two years I have become acquainted with Daintree Life. I have visited Dave and Connie both in the forest and their home. They have a very positive caring energy and are always considerate of the communities concerns and needs relating to their work. They often have orphaned native animals they are caring for. Their tree plantings illustrate understanding of the techniques required to successfully regenerate rainforests to a self sustaining site while considering time frames, budgets and constraints.
Dave and Connie live in the highly diverse and world acclaimed Daintree lowlands and are very self aware of the interaction they as a household have on the environment using Solar power as their primary means of electricity and have minimised the clearing to the smallest degree required to exist on their property.
I highly recommend if you can to donate to their activities or help on one of their planting days in the effort to restore the Daintree lowland rainforests and help remedy the clearing that was undertaken in the past. Help replant the forests linking them back together and remove exotic weeds to assist the great amount of threatened native fauna and flora unique to this special place.
thankyou !

Having had the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible work being undertaken by Daintree Life, we have become regular corporate supporters. The honesty, integrity and commitment of Dave and Connie shines through. The Far North Queensland region, the local community, the visitors and wildlife are all extremely fortunate to have this visionary organisation in their midst. We urge others to support this most worthy project.
I have worked closely Dave and Connie of Daintree Life since its inception and recommend them to anyone wanting to support the planting of rainforest trees. They have the experience and expertise that ensures 99% of the trees they plant actually survive (and those that don't they replaced). Planting trees in the Daintree Rainforest restores habitat for endangered wildlife like the Southern Cassowary and the rare Bennetts Tree-kangaroo. Oh, and Dave and Connie are great to work with.
Daintree Life is doing great work in in Far North Queensland. Direct action is always happening and we support all their efforts in the region north of us. Help them make more forests today. Keep on planting World Forest Builders! Together we are making the forests of the future.
After hearing about Daintree Life and wanting to get involved, I sponsored a number of trees to be planted at a particularly degraded roadside location in 2019. Almost two years later, a highlight of my first ever trip to Far North Queensland was visiting the site to view progress. The transformation was impressive! A personal tour with Dave and Connie around their other planting sites was equally impressive. All Daintree Life sites are regularly monitored and weed controlled, which is an ongoing – and growing - commitment.
The genuine passion which Dave and Connie have for the Daintree Rainforest is evident. These two very remarkable and dedicated people have made an enormous impact in the local area creating a legacy which will benefit generations to come. I am very proud to be one of the first supporters of Daintree Life’s revegetation ambitions and I wish them every success in the future.
As a keen"conservationist" and member of Australian Plants Society I have been distressed about the continuing DESTRUCTION of our forests and wildlife habitats. Last September 2019 I visited The Daintree in Nth Qld., for the first time. I met Dave Pinson and Connie Kerr of Daintree Life. I WAS IMPRESSED by the knowledge that they had of the local flora (and fauna) and the way that they had selected and arranged the thousands of indigenous species they had planted in "reclaimed" land adjacent to the Daintree World Heritage area . Being a wildlife carer and realising how our planet is suffering from habitat loss especially after forest distruction, bush fires and extreme heat events my husband and l wanted to do something positive. We found Daintree Life run by Dave Pinson and Connie Kerr and have made donations to this very worthy cause. Last spring we decided to visit the Daintree area for the first time and meet up with Dave and Connie. What a project it was! We were so thrilled with all the planting that had been done, what was once bare spaces was now filled with very lush healthy plants we helped them plant and water trees for a morning.
Keep up the good work Dave and Connie our planet needs you.
Not only replanting but also reviving flying foxes, essential seed-dispersers! Excited to see the project reach its goal.
In late 2020 I had the privilege of being able to visit and plant trees in the Daintree Rainforest. Connie and Dave of Daintree Life were so welcoming and knowledgeable. It is amazing to see the impact of the work done by Daintree Life. They showed me other planting sites and special flora and fauna in the area. Fantastic to see unused service roads and areas filled with weeds are being returned to original rainforest and as a result create food sources and habitat for all the rainforest species. I was able to revisit the trees planted in late 2020 and they have grown so much! Especially the way Connie and Dave arrange for the memorial plantings is very special.
Connie and Dave are also wildlife carers specialising in bats and flying foxes. I've always had a love for bats and flying foxes and seeing their dedication inspired me to also become involved in wildlife rescue.
I have fallen in love with the Daintree Rainforest and want to contribute as much as possible to conserving and regenerating this unique area. The visit with Daintree Life had a major impact on me, I even bought a property in the Daintree Rainforest myself!
I would definitely recommend donating to the Daintree Life projects and visiting the Daintree Rainforest and also get involved with the tree planting.
The last update left a smile on my face. I strongly recommend any reforestation project that is rewilding Australia, a nation who has been victim of the Fires and of the uncontrolled deforestation in the past. And the last picture put a smile on my face as you can see two persons doing something they love and are having fun like wee kids. Please keep on doing what you love.
I write in my capacity of both scientist and friend. I have known of Connie and Daves' work as carers of flying foxes for many years. I was thrilled to hear of their ideas for restoring rainforest to areas previously degraded by past enterprises.
I hold a Batchelor of Science degree in Biodiversity and Conservation and have been involved in conservation for 40 years. I previously worked for Greenpeace and have been a fellow of the Natural History Society of South Australia for over 30 years.
In 2017 my wife and I visited Connie and Dave at their home in the Daintree. We spent two wonderful weeks enjoying the wonders of the rainforest. During that time we learned how extensive was Connie and Daves' knowledge of the rainforest ecosystem. As we travelled from place to place they not only explained about various flora and fauna and their roles in the ecosystem but also told us of the significance to aboriginal people that each species possessed. This wisdom/information they gained by working closely with aboriginal elders of the area and listening to their knowledge and experience of the rainforest. It has held them in good stead when planning planting,(all the while still working with the traditional owners), to know the balance of species to replant in the various areas planned for restoration.
During our visit our friends showed us disused service roads that were a leftover from previous subdivision and were a source of exotic weed infestation. Subsequently we were pleased to hear that they had received approval from the Douglas Shire Council to replant rainforest on these roads and also along other existing roadsides.
I am truly impressed by the care and passion displayed by Connie and Dave and their supporters for the rainforest environment and the biodiversity that it supports.
I thoroughly recommend the Daintree Life Project as a practical way to conserve the rainforest community.
I write in my capacity as a Douglas Shire Councillor. I want to commend and recommend Daintree Life for the fantastic conservation and restoration work it has initiated and continues to pursue in our world famous Daintree National Park and Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. I have participated in a number of tree planting and forest restoration projects initiated by Daintree Life. Besides being fun events and sharing a great experience with like minded conservation conscious people I feel energised knowing I am being given the opportunity to contribute not only to restoration and preservation of a rainforest of global significance, but also doing my bit to offset my own CO2 footprint through planting trees. Daintree Life is an organisation of experts in their field. The principals, Connie and Dave, understand the delicate balance of our eco-system and willingly impart their vast knowledge to participants in their initiatives. So not only do you have fun and help the planet, you can learn heaps as well. I look forward to participating in more conservation initiatives carried out by Daintree Life in the future.
We planted trees with Daintree Life in Daintree in April 2019. We had great fun with them and are very proud that we were part of their tree planting. Dave and Connie are real tree experts with great passion for the revegetation of Daintree rainforest. They also provide shelter for animals. It is very admirable that they are planting the lots next to the road. Something that has never been done before. And planting many small patches of trees next to the road provides shelter for the animals and completes the rainforest. Connie and Dave are very friendly, passionate and enthusiastic as well. Dave makes stunning pictures. Check their website https://www.daintreelife.com.au/ Daintree rainforest really deserves Dave and Connie. ??????
Daintree Life is making a difference.
Both in the short term management and replanting in the Daintree as well as in the long term reforestation and habitat preservation.
How many of us can say the same?
Check out their amazing photos on Daintreelife.com.au
Daintree Life is doing an amazing job of replanting unused service roads and patches of previously cleared area throughout the Daintree, it is always great to drive through and see how their progress is going!
