I was surprised to learn that I have been named as a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). It is really nice to have our conservation and preservation efforts in the Orinoco River basin recognized, no doubt in part thanks to our Reserva Natural La Pedregoza. This was great encouragement for me personally, and confirmation that we are doing all (well most) of the right things. It also means that with the many friends we have here in Tree-Nation we can all rest assured that we are leaving a legacy worth having to our children and to their children. I always remember that a wise person once said we are borrowing the Earth from our children. Let us leave it in a better state than the one in which we have found it! Thanks to all of you for supporting our afforestation and reforestation efforts here in Tree Nation, at the other Tree-Nation plantations, and of course at La Pedregoza in beautiful Colombia.
