PREPARING TREE NURSERIES FOR 2017 TREE PLANTING SEASON
Our team is currently preparing our tree nurseries in readiness for the March/April season.The seeds have been planted in the polythene bags and will start germinating soon.
We have planted over 10,000 seeds and looking foward

COMMUNITY BENEFITS
The Farming community is greatly benefitting financially from the tree planting project in the area for supplying the seedlings . Funds have been used to improve their livelihoods hence reducing poverty. They have also gained from training of community members

The seeds and bark of the Malagüeto tree (Xylopia aromatica) are used to produce a stomach tonic that is touted as a cure for diarrhea and cholera. It is also a very pretty ornamental tree and takes a pride of place in the Sacred Seeds

The Jobo or Spondias mombin is a fruit tree that grows in wet and dry soils and that is an option for the establishment of living fences. It has a number of medicinal properties. As a multi-purpose native tree it is an obvious member of the Sacred Seeds family.

The moriche palm (Mauritia flexuosa) is another one of those trees of life important to indigenous peoples. Its fruits are delicious, the seeds provide an oil, the leaves roof thatching, the leaves and trunk fibers for clothes, hammocks, ropes and more, the trunks were also used

The Sassafras tree (#Ocotea_cymbarum) is in the IUCN´s red book of endangered species. At the Sacred Seeds Botanical Garden we have been working hard to find seeds and plant these aromatic and medicinal trees in the rain forest. They need a lot of shade and hugs!

Cashew trees (#Anacardium_occidentale) are native to the Orinoco and Amazon River basins. There are some 50 medicinal and alimentary products that can be made with cashew nuts and with cashew fruits. As a native tree it is an important member of our Sacred Seeds garden.
