Restoration and Social Empowerment

Restoration and Social Empowerment, Mexico

This project supports under-resourced communities (ejidos) in restoring degraded forests. Hotter seasons, intensified rains, wildfires, and illegal logging have weakened forests, leading to thinning, soil erosion, and water depletion. The ejidos, as forest owners, lead tree planting and maintenance, with women often at the forefront, improving the resilience of the forests and preventing further human-caused damage.

Asseessment of the Leader of Tepelmeme

This review is provided by Don Manuel Mendoza, the leader of the Tepelmeme ejido:
We have worked around one year with Paul Burgos and our engineer Claudia of DOnate a atree to the World and truthfully it has been a pleasure and very satisfying that we have found people of their making, vision and way of thinking. Together we will work for the benefit of the ejido of Tepelmeme Via de Morelos and towards our objectives and challenges. With the plan that we have in place we expect to transform the areas where we are going to plant. We expect to do this with Paul and Claudia, our friends, and in the process, we will continue to help the community overall.
The project is well defined. In years past we have worked with other organizations and this plan appears very achievable. We expect to continue working along the plan planting trees and transforming the designated areas. It is very overwhelming to have to worry about our land and the consequences of climate change but together we will go down the road of our vision and hopefully succeed. We are doing all this for our land and the planet but most of all for the children. We want to give them a good quality of life.
Thank you,
Don Manuel

What a great project!

This project is super important for the community of Tepelmeme. The people are very excited about working to stop the desertification process and are ready to plant!!
