Restoration and Social Empowerment

Restoration and Social Empowerment, Mexico

This project supports under-resourced communities (ejidos) in restoring degraded forests. Hotter seasons, intensified rains, wildfires, and illegal logging have weakened forests, leading to thinning, soil erosion, and water depletion. The ejidos, as forest owners, lead tree planting and maintenance, with women often at the forefront, improving the resilience of the forests and preventing further human-caused damage.

Well done

January 2024

You can see how the desert has taken over a lot of the space where we are going to plant. Here we are reviewing the area to be planted and are assessing the soil's ability to support the new trees that will be planted in June.

December 2023

Last week we did a review and evaluation of our planting site. Everything looks good for planting next June. We will be planting then because it is the start of our rainy season and this ensures that our trees will survive.
