87.1  Pontuação de Qualidade

Ala Forest Reserve, encompassing approximately 45,000 hectares, stands as one of the degraded forest reserves in South West Nigeria. Over the years, it has endured significant degradation from unsustainable logging, bushfires, overgrazing, and inadequate management practices. This project, with local communities, has undertaken the initiative to restore a portion of this degraded forest, commencing with 2,000 hectares as a starting point.

We propagate ginger using macropropagation techniques in our nursery to ensure the production of healthy and uniform planting materials.

Carefully selected disease-free rhizomes are cleaned, treated, and cut into smaller setts before being placed in a controlled nursery environment.

We commenced our tree planting activities in early June. Given the sensitivity of some of the indigenous tree species we introduced—many of which are slow-growing and less tolerant to drought—we adopted an intercropping model by planting plantain and banana alongside them. This approach
