We included this species because it grow fast and in another way, we can say that the tree can be simply managed by lopping, pollarding and coppicing , the reason to why we have are planting this tree its just because these species has apiary value, as well, as it produces dark-ambered honey with a strong flavor where by in the other side we have been empowering our community through beekeeping activities. and its seed is also used in poultry feeds due to its protein content .
Species particularities
Croton megalocarpus is a deciduous tree with a spreading crown; it can reach up to 35 meters tall; its bole can reach up to 100 cm in diameter. It can be found in East tropical Africa. It occurs in savannas and closed secondary forests, riverine woodland, wooded grassland, dry evergreen forest, rainforest, and disturbed vegetation. It prefers light, deep, and well-drained soils.
