Save the Aberdare Forest

River Gura is the fastest river in Africa and originating from the Aberdare ecosystem. Due to climate change, and human activities, the river is slowly drying up putting the local community and ecosystem at risk. Save Aberdare Forest project is rehabilitating it's catchment to

Planting of Croton megalocarpus seedlings along matara river in Gura catchment site which is currently under threat due to encroachment. We have taken over its rehabilitation and 2500 seedlings have been planted so far.

On 31st October 2024, We were visited by two journalists from VRT Television from Belgium. They came to cover our Save the Aberdare Project funded by Tree Nation.
They Covered our tree planting especially coffee, Cookstoves and biogas projects.

As we celebrate the International day for combating desertification. We recognize the role Fathers play in convervation.
The more we grow trees, we help prevent desertification and drought.

Farmers pose for photo after receiving assorted indigenous trees seedlings to plant on the northerns side of the Aberdare ranges in Muthiga sublocation. 1000 seedling were planted.
The area is Semi - arid and more planting and growing is needed to change the landscape.
